I have never really taken crow hunting seriously although I have a mouth call and have been able to get them fairly close, no shots, no kills, and I have only done it a few times. Since I got the e-caller and have been after the foxes (not lately, the weather has sucked and time was also at a premium) I have been planning to use it for crows. I got some free crow sounds and they sucked for the most part so I broke down and bought the bob aronsohn sound pack for crows. The other day on a non-crow hunting day I was using the e-caller and it worked great so I couldn't wait to try it. I made some crow decoys during the suck weather and was ready to go.

Got to try it today for about an hour. Walked back to a little beyond the railroad tracks and set up under one of their flyways. I was at the base of a small mound of dirt (15ft tall) in between some cement forms. I had the decoys about 25 yds in front of me and was expecting the crows from behind me. Sure enough after calling for about 10 minutes they came up on my right rear. I got two shots off, one crow down. Crow fever or I woulda/shoulda had two, if not three. I shoot a mossberg 500, full choke, 3" 6 shot.

I am gonna enjoy this until the middle of march when crow season ends.

Thats pretty cool I don't think I'll ever go "crow hunting" but I have an experience to share. I just received my Foxpro Spitfire E-caller yesterday. After unpacking it, I go out onto my patio. There was no signs of crows in my area whatsoever until I played the "crowfight" sound. Man it didn't take 30 secs and I had about 15 circling overhead. It was a pretty cool feeling.

Tomorrow morning I'm heading out for the call's intended purpose, fox/bobcat/coyote hunting. I'm a complete newbie at this but I'm excited to give it a shot. Went out tonight on a bow only farm but didn't have any luck calling in a thing.

    Bruce....

Pretty cool. I've got a case of high-brass #6's in my bldg.. It's been years since I crow hunted. But, I'm gonna make a few sets in the coming months. I've got a couple dozen dekes in the bldg. that haven't seen the light of day for a long time.

    Congrats on your successful hunt!

Don't shoot the 1st ones to come in, wait, they will leave and come back with the whole roust. After that action is over you should move to another location. BTW, crows are the nastiest of birds, they sit in the trees and crap all over each other.

Thanks, I'll give that a go. I've got a ways to go with this crow hunting but it'll be fun getting there.

What rick said. Dont shoot the scout. If they like what they see, they'll bring the others.
