    It's fine I posted this for people to go elk hunting. Will does a great thing for the hunters on this forum. I know Matt took a couple nice elk. It is a great way to get started hunting in Colorado, someone that has a camp set up and ready go with knowledge of the area. I got a bug this year to hunt different areas and it worked out good.

    Excellent info but I wish I would have got this a year ago. Tried my first DIY elk hunt with a buddy late September this year. Calling it a bust is being generous but definitely learned a lot.

    If you go with a friend to help split costs with tag you should be able to go for under $1200

    I would say you are spot on with that budget. For me it will cost about $1400 if I go by myself. $600 for tag, $400 for fuel, $180 for food, and a couple hundred for other things I deem necessary (such as a trip to cabelas )
