Does anyone know how much longer the lithium batteries will last in a trail camera vs Duracell coppertops ? I would love to hear some feedback before I sink a lot of money in batteries ?

The lithium will last a whole lot longer. I still have the same set in my coverts since last jan and thousands of pics.

I've only used lithium's once and they do last a very long time. I seem to have no problem finding great deals on alkaline's all the time (usually Rayovac) and also run rechargeable batteries. If I lived a couple hours away from the cams I'd probably go with the lithium's but with the great battery life of the cameras I run and how close I am to the cams I don't really see a benefit of using lithium batteries.

I started using the cheapo batteries and have gotten thousands and thousands of pictures on them.

For example how many pics in the 2013 red 40 would you get with lithiums and how many with Duracell or rayovacs

I've honestly never replaced batteries in my red 40, had the raovacs in it since June. Not sure how many pictures/videos.

You can't beat 30 rayovaks for $7-8 at fleet farm.

I got a $20 target gift card for Xmas and just got 24 lithium energizer for $13.

True battery life is longer, but I am not really looking for that. It's the cold weather performance that makes the lithium batteries shine.

I would just run/I run rayovacs and Duracells in my 2013red40. I dont see the need for lithiums in Coverts.

I heard of a battery bulging issue. simple piece of clear tape/any kinda tape solves that issue. I dont have a issue with the bulging batteries on my 2013red40, just throwing that out there. 2014 has a case redesign to solve that issue.

When it got colder I put some Duracells in. I got some duracell procells, guess they are the same as coppertop just meant for hospitals/commerical accounts. Got a 24pk for 12$ at my work for the heck of it to try.

My real camera test is going to be this Sunday through Wednesday, High of -15 in the day Monday and -23 at night with down to -50 windchill!

Sure. I know it will work though, that camera, two mp35's and a mp6black been out when temps dipped down close to these record lows we are going to get here soon. Whats another -10 to -20 windchill factor going to hurt :D

but back on topic= just run some plain jane batteries and you will be fine.

If you run your 2013red 40 on video, best to move your trigger interval out to 20-30 seconds so the batteries have time to recharge. Like if you were to run a 5 second interval on video and something is standing there the whole time during the time between shots the batteries cant keep up to the demand it takes to run a video. A little longer delay time gives the batteries a chance to get back up. Like holding your breath under water, coming up for one second to get air and going back under. Hope that makes sense? lol.

I was thinking about running lithiums when I first got my Coverts but went with the copper tops. I have a 2012 black 60 with the same batteries that I first put in it on 8-18-12. I also see no need to get the lithiums.

^^ My 2012 black60 was out from July and checked it yesterday and battery level was at 8 with some Rayovacs. That blew my mind.

I noticed Walmart has 40 rayovaks for $9.97 online. Not sure if its the same thing in store.

Out local fleet farm always has 30 on sale for like $8.87.
