To you guys that have dumped cable... What are you doing for sports? I haven't found a internet based solution that is worth a squat.... This is the only thing that is preventing us from dumping cable all together. We are down to the most basic package we can get and just add the sports tier during college FB and BB season.

What sports do you want to watch? ESPN stuff? Baseball? Pro football?

College basketball and football. Believe it or not I could careless if I ever watch another game on t.v. It's my wife that is a sports freak! lol!

College football interferes with my pursuit for monster whitetails every year!

Pro football will be OTA. Which if you do this you should get an aerial antenna anyway.

College football OTA stuff is the same. For ESPN you can get the Xbox and get their gold service and get most college football and BB games that way.

I will check out ESPN on Xbox. We already have that service and I wasn't aware of that feature. I am curious about teams that have their own sports network.... We will see!

You won't get those channels AFAIK. If you cut the cord you are going to have to make concessions. So might as well get used to that idea. You won't see everything. But you should be able to see 80-90% of what you want if not more.

Between the Red Wings and the Tigers, I would willingly pay at least $300 per year just for FoxSports Detroit (if they didn't black out any non-nationally broadcasted games.)

Instead, I have to pay MLBTV $135, and NHL Center Ice $90 (just for the second half of the season.) But if I lived in the Detroit area, I'd get FXS Detroit with basic cable for less than $50/month including all the other local stations.

You have to have a cable subscription to get the WatchESPN app.

Not with Xbox! They have the only non paid TV agreement with ESPN. You have to sign up for Xbox live. Other than that yes. The watchESPN app on your Roku, phone, computer you have to have a log-in for a paid TV site. Unless that has changed in the past couple of years.
