Is there any definitive answer on this? Should I use the IR light on my flashlight when going to and from places or maybe a little ninja reading while in the stand? Thoughts?
There's no proof that's 100% but I think they can see red lights or some sort of light. I use to buy IR Trail camera's that used red lights. The deer spooked from them just as bad as the flash camera's.
Someone once told me that they use headlights, since the deer never see those. jk, I've used IR and had deer look at me and continue on there way. Not so much with regular light, almost every time i've walked up on a deer with a regular light they've darted off.
I usually use the red lens going to the stand in the wee hours of the morning. Its not supposed to spook game...also I read an article about a whitetails vision and It went into depth about it...great article..I'll post a link if I can find it!
I have tested RED and GREEN lights and found that you can actually see better with GREEN.. For some reason, it travels farther and is softer on the eyes.. I actually use my BloodHunter Light (RED and GREEN lights at the same time).. I click it on GREEN ONLY and go in the woods.. I see deer all the time while entering the woods, but they never spook.. I walk right up on deer while shining the GREEN light at them, and all they seem to pay attention to is the sound I make. If I stop, They perk up and try to find out where I went. I shine bucks from 25 feet up the trees in the wee hours of the morning before shooting light just to see what is walking under me.. They have never so much as stuttered a step when I shined the GREEN light on them... They just keep walking.. Kinda fun to see them when they cant see you before the sun comes up... I love the GREEN light for entering/exiting my hunting woods... Just my experience and findings...
Dido Green is the way to go. I've never spooked deer because of a green light. Noise yes, but green light makes you invisible in a deers eyes at night!
maybe we should get some green lens material and cover are ir cams lights with it? well call it going green cams and charge a extra $50 bucks for it. shh dont tell the cam companys.
