Ok, I know the answer to this but as the season is drawing to a end and I am yet to kill any of my target bucks I find myself pondering this more and more. I have a 25 acre sanctuary that I only go in once a year to shed hunt. I hunt the edges only. It's where I missed my number 1 buck this year. Saturday is a rare wind for my area NE and I wanna know what everyone thinks about me sneaking in with a climber in the middle of the day or before light for a hail Mary.
I'd go in. Def won't hurt once or twice. If wind is good and you don't leave scent in the area it should work out pretty good for you. Most people sneak into these areas and beddings late season to connect on a mature deer. Good luck.
I did it last week and dont think it will hurt. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I won't hesitate to Hail Marry on opening day, Sept 1st, if the conditions are right. I'm in it to win it, lol.
I’m in it all day! I’ll risk it any time of the season if the conditions are right. I’ve found that even if I get busted they will be back to normal patterns within a couple weeks.
Sometimes you just have to get aggressive. If its a bedding area Id get in there before light and see what happens. If its an area they walk through to get to something else midday may be the ticket. Worst case is you bump something and they move out for the day. But if its only a once things I doubt they will bugger out for good. If they do it all start over in a few weeks anyhow.. Good luck brother.
Quick update....I walked by about 50 yards from it on my way to a stand downwind in hopes that they would cross the AG and head my way. Before I was settled I got a fervent phone call from a friend saying I blew out 10 doe and my number 1 and number 4 bucks out of it. I had wind in my favor and it was raining so it and I were quiet. It's a sign and I will not be going near it again.
