Well really... what in the hell is a 7 foot dude doing trying to guard a quick fast shooting guard beyond the 3 point line. They have a lot quicker and tougher defenders than Zellar on the outside.
My dog even knew Rivers wasn't giving that up for anything in this world. He lives for his chance to shine, whether its smart to take the shot or not. Clutch play tonight!
True, not many 7 footers can do that but he basically gave up by not putting his hands up and getting in his face and forcing him to move sideways instead of letting him step into his shot like he was able to do.Jalen Rose just said the same thing on sports center. Make him a driver instead of a shooter.
They picked off the original guard that was guarding him and Zellar was forced to switch to him. Actually good design by the coaching staff. Still baffled though. It wasn't like Rivers speed beat Zellar. He was sitting there still dribbling in front of his face for 5 seconds. With 2 seconds left he falls for a false step and his momentum is going backwards? Where the hell is he going to go with 2 seconds left? should have been all up in his face forcing a wild shot. Oh well. Saw a lot of possitives out of UNC last night. They are still clearly the more dominant team. Stuff like this and Florida St. will haunt them in tourney time though. They just don't seem to have that extra little something like other good teams.
