There was a low spot in my clover field that always held water for a while after a rain. So I decided to help it out. I dug it down about 18-20 inches. It is right in the middle of a 30 yard wide pinch point in my clover field. If it's a dry fall and the creek goes dry, it might be a hot spot.
Great land management right there, I think you could have a HOT spot, pun intended, during warm / dry days... Nice tractor.. How much land do you maintain and do you think the tractor suits you working it? Reason I ask, is I'm considering buying a 128 acre tract of land that has been clear cut and was thinking of a L35 (used) tractor. In your experience what might you recommend for this size land and implements needed???
Thats awesome jmbuckhunter I have been wanting to put some water holes on our farm..... its gets pretty bone dry sometimes during the summer.
Yer not foolin me! You just wanted to play on the tractor! LOL.......Great idea buddy, and you're right. Could be a hotspot for sure.
jm, I did roughly the same thing by hand. Momma won't let me have the good toys yet. Looks good buddy.
Looks good! We have a brush hog almost identical to yours. We're running it on a 40HP JD990, and although we don't have power issues very often, we run into issues when pulling our spring tooth harrow. You can almost never have too much HP, right? :D
Looks great John, that should be a great spot to watch deer this summer and hopefully it will pay off this fall.
I've read somewhere that you could actually put a kid's swimming pool below ground level to collect rain water and act as a watering hole. Neat idea, and when it gets hot and dry they'll like it for sure.
