I am looking to buy a new DSLR camera to film with. I am using the canon T1i but we can't attach an external mic to it. I am looking for a canon and only have about 1000 to spend. What would be a good camera for filming? I am looking at the T3i or the 60D. I like how the LCD screen flips around on both so you can film yourself if needed. Does anyone have any advise on what to get?

I'd go with the T3i, all the way. I have a canon 5D and a 60D, we use to shoot with T3i's and it is a fantastic camera! Plus you can install some third party firmware on it ( called magic lantern) and it's simply fantastic.

Also! Buy REFURBISHED from Canon ( here is a link) Canon sells all overstocked cameras that were returned to manufacturer as refurbished, but they are all brand freaking new. Both my 5D's and my 60D are "refurbished".

You will save a grip of cash, and can buy a better lens.

Thank your for the help, I think I am going to go with the T3i more than likely. I hope I can sell my GL2 to get the camera.

One more vote for the T3i. Just picked one up on Monday and really like it. Good luck!
