There is elk in Oklahoma as well. I didn't learn that till last year. Four guys were at a gas station with 6 elk all over 250ish, one defiantly in the 300's

Yeppers, and there are some pretty nice ones as well. And if you're hunting in an adjacent state, they're legal to kill with a GENERAL hunting license as they are considered NON-NATIVE!!! :D

We have elk here in Virginia too. Not many of them, but I am not sure if you are allowed to hunt them anymore. The population is in Southwestern Va (wanders from Kentucky no doubt) and I know you used to be able to hunt them and use your deer tag. Not sure about it anymore.

Yes, you are allowed to kill elk in VA with a deer tag. Pretty sweet deal!

I put in for the lottery last year and no luck. Maybe this year my luck will change.

Pa got elk. We've had a season for several years now. I apply for the drawing every year. We got some big ones.

I've often wondered why anyone from PA WOULDN'T put in for an elk tag, Ryan????

Are there access issues (if you were to draw)?

    They're all local "guided" hunts.

I don't put in for them simply because, well, I don't have a reason:D I suppose I had imagined me taking my first elk out west. Call me silly.;)

We have Elk come thru our property in Michigan all the time! Cool to see em but they are a pain in the ass! They can wipe out a food plot/ corn very easily! They also can wreak havoc on the trees I planted. In one season we lost 28 white pines. As a non resident of Michigan I'll never be able to hunt them, sucks!

I think it's a good deal to put in, Depending on which unit you draw some have better access than others. I don't know how the "guiding" thing works up there, I believe there are some folks who live up there that know where the concentrations are. But personally if I drew, I would likely just spend every free momentpre-season up there looking myself & only hire help if I needed to get one out.

Shows how much I know. I had assumed you were assigned a "guide" if drawing a tag. I didn't mean anything negative by it. They have been putting down some big bulls in years past.
