I'm very new to bowhunting I'm shooting a Matthews switchback with a drop away rest. My problem is occasionally when I draw back my arrow slips out. So my husband told me he'll get me a whisker biscuit. I like my drop away I think I want to get a better one that stops the slipping. Anyways what is you guys advice? I would like one that doesn't mess with accuracy and is quite
Do you currently have an arrow "holder" or guide on the bow? I use a Trophy Taker on the Z7 and use the arrow guide that came with it, it keeps the arrow in lie with the rest until the rest begins to rise and lift the arrow. This would be my recommendation. If you like your current rest and have no tuning issues with it, no need to change.
I believe it's just holder. Ill definately get something else just because of the arrow falling out indent want to be in a stand and my arrow pop out
Drop-away hands down...I've used a whisker biscuit for 6 years, until this year. Accuracy improves, drastically. My QAD drop-away allows you to flip the rest up before you draw back, and has a little containment bar over the top of it. This allows you to move the bow freely while your arrow is knocked, and it won't come out.
QAD drop-away all day. its impossible for the arrow to fall out and you dont have to worry about ruining your fletchings like you do in a whisker bisquit
What kind of rest is currently on your bow? I had an octane tripwire rest with the old style tongue on it and the arrow would slip off occasionally, sometimes without me noticing it and you can guess the rest of the story. Got a limbdriver and solved my problems. I think there main problem with most drop away rests is they come up too fast and make the arrow jump a little.
How does a whisker biscuit mess with accuracy and ruin the fletching? I'm a Noob here as well and currently have a Whisker. Jim
The friction of which the vanes run against the whiskers on the biscuit usually eventually wares out the vanes. I switched to blazer vanes and haven't had that problem since though. The same reason that the vanes get wore out easy is the same reason for the accuracy. The arrow and vanes have to pass through the whiskers and can cause a misdirection. With a drop away, the arrow has no choice but to go straight since there is nothing but air and gravity in the way. For every person that likes a drop away another likes a whisker biscuit. It's just a preference. It's the leather seats vs. cloth in bowhunting.
I had the same is with my Mathews Monster-6 and didn't want to get rid of the trophy taker but once I used the whisker biscuit I wondered why they made anything else. So many advantages to a whisker biscuit I'll never use anything else. I hunted all through somes woods on Saturday with an arrow nocked and it never moved rattled or came off.
I currently have a Matthew fall Away drop rest. Problem is when I go to draw it slips out or pops up and out of place. I'm just worried I'll pull back one day not catch it or accidentally release and shoot my hand or something else.
as you can see it boils down to personal preference. some have used both a drop and a whisker. personally i chose the drop away and love the QAD.
Look at the Muzzy Zero Effect. It's a drop away that has a large cradle for the arrow. You could get the worst case of buck fever and not rattle the arrow off. This rest will solve your problem. Make sure you put a piece of moles hair where the arrow slides on it to keep it quiet.
Also check out the schaeffer opposition really is the best of both worlds Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk
I love drop aways and will never switch. Right now I have a trophy taker but would love to buy the NAP apache. Ive never had a problem with the arrow falling off.
I had a whisker biscuit on my bow last year, I was a proud new owner and thought this was going to be great. Well long story short, here comes a nice 8 pointer in early November, I draw back and rrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh yup that buck took off like a rocket ship. The cold made the whiskers stiff and they screeched along my shaft, I WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER ONE AGAIN!
I switched from a WB to a Ripcord Red drop away it not only improved my grouping but also is not so hard on fletching. It is a full capture rest and I'm very pleased with the change ... definately would not change back.
