I just recieved my Apache drop-away and had a quick question.

When I attach the pull cord, is it ok to use the method used in the link posted below or would you recommend pulling it through the cable.

    http://www.bowtuningtips.com/files/html_pages/htmlplayers/knowyournot.html

I do not have a vise and I would prefer not to take it to a shop. But if I will be better off pulling it through the cable then I got to do what I got to do.

Has anyone used the method used in the link? Did your pull cord slip?

Sir, i actually suggest buying a device like on the ripcord that holds the cable for you...very handy device that lets you decide the perfect drop...when tying knots you may mess up and tie in the wrong spot and its a pain. just my opinion but if you find the right spot for the knot this will work fine

I love my Ripcord and that little "football" clamp makes setup a breeze.

I prefer tying in my cord to my cable, as it does take a little extra time I feel it is a more secure way of making sure that your cord doesn't move on you. Im sure either way will be fine though.

that would be a good way to do it. i have my apcahe set up with the drop away string though the middle of the bow cable, burn the end so the nylon becomes a hard ball, then make those knots above and below it so it cant come out, pull the extra drop away string through the set screw on the apache. bring bow to full draw. then trim and tighten screw. works great for me

I wouldn't tie a drop away in that way, but I am not saying it wouldn't work.

Don't tie your D-loop like he does though, it is incorrect.

The tag end (the burnt end of the loop) should be facing opposite directions, not the same.

I always tie mine in , i use the clamps for the cord and timing adjustment , for instance on a QAD burn your little ball slip threw the rest , attach lower part of cord to clamp now stretch cord and clamp tight , I like to stretch mine tight to the bottom of my grip to start , tighten clamp up just enough that the down cable just slips through while drawing , draw your bow , let down and tighten clamp up , draw bow again check louncher to make sure it comes to its full 90 degrees with the cams 1'' before there at full rotation....if cord is correct mark the cable with a marker right at bottom of clamp and the cord , cut cord 1/4'' long burn your little ball , split cables open slip cord through in the right direction and tie in on the mark .....simple and full proof

Not a chance in the world I'd tie my rest in like that. Granted a press is a little more work but it's much easier to make sure the rest comes up at the last moment and it's much more secure.

The litte "football" clip that comes with the Ripcords is nice but I prefer not to have anything I don't need on my cables.

And yes, buckeye is exactly correct... the D-loop is wrong.

Like Scott and Dubs said. Don't tie it like that or use that football. That's just an easy way out why add more to yur string/cables than you need to?

No I wouldnt tie my D-loop like that,I was only referring to the rest cord on the video. And One of those clips was never an option for me.

I'll just take it to a shop since I don't have a vise and have them tie it in.

    Thanks!
