Hello, I'm just getting into bow hunting. I just purchased my first bow. A 1995 hoyt rebel xt. I purchased a new truglo sight and a g5 archery expert II drop away arrow rest designed for hoyt bows. The arrow rest is too short as it is designed for new hoyt bows. The non hoyt model of the g5 archery expert II will fit the bow, however the guy at bass pro (I know I've read not to let them touch the bow) told me since the bow is so old I cannot add a drop away rest. He said that the string from the drop away rest going to the down cable would be too long. The cable guide slide is bellow the riser. Is he right? I don't see how a longer string would make a difference. Here is a link to another forum with pictures of a similar bow: http://forum.gon.com/showthread.php?t=375895
Kinda hard to understand what your talking about.But.. I dont think its impossible to get it setup, but the cord from the rest to the bus cable would be a little long compared to most of the newer bows. I i do think someone can get it working it might not be ideal and i dont think your going to be able to use the cord that comes with the rest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZjHvTvz3M0 heres a video of a guy installing one but its on a newer bow
the drop away cord would be too long??? or that you'd have to put a mucho long cord on it? just tie it in on the cable anywhere that works It doesn't have to go on the guard so why would that matter.
He told me that the chord (I believe it is called the buss) would need to be too long. It would have to go below the slide guide which is inline with the stabilizer.
ahh, I see it now (found a pic of the bow). well if the guide rod is in the way, why not just use a whisker type rest and be done with it?
