The implications was really eventuality...if you go to youtube you will see a guy that attached a camcorder to his Remote control plane and flew it over his neighborhood to see how it worked. it did pretty good, so here's the question... When do surveillance and spying or keeping taps on an ex wife or husband begins and ends?
Is that any differnet then him having is own airplane or helicopter, or following someone around in a car? Or hiring someone to do the same? It's called stalking... Regardless of the means in which it is performed.
Opposed. But it fits right in with the militarization of our police and stranglehold the DHA has on all of us. Remember back when we were 'The Land of the Free'?
If the drones are used for a specific military/law enforcement purpose and follow ALL legal rules of engagement, then no problem. If those drones are out there spying on people without a direct reason to do so, then I believe that is a problem.
I once said several years ago on this very site.. we are witnessing the beginning of the fall of the great American empire. Under the Bush administration the "Patriot Act" and the Department of Homeland Security are among the greatest violators of the Constitution. Under Obama.. the subversion of the Posse Comitatus Act.. which allows "under certain provisions" military to act as police... thus occupying our own streets if the executive sees fit. In Chicago this weekend you are going to witness all of these acts in one place.. protestors will be present coming from all walks of life including military veterans.. occupy Wall Street.. even people dressed as clowns I have heard. This July.. for the second year in a row.. I will be flying this in front of my home. [h=1][/h]
There are rumors that the NATO protesters (some of them) want to burn Chicago down. The citizens of 'downstate' Illinois are, of course, very concerned about this. We felt that we needed to do something. So we started taking up a collection. The response from the downstaters has been fantastic, almost everyone has been donating. We should be able to send up at least four tanker trucks full of gasoline.
I really don't see how it is any different then the millions of street and building cameras all over the U.S.. If it makes us safer then I am all for it. Stop peeing off your front porch and you won't have anything to worry about. My point is if you are a law abiding citizen and don't have anything to hide then why does it really matter???
Hell, I said that in 1968 when Jane Fonda was hailed as a national treasure while touring North Vietnam.
I would call it stalking but since it seemed harmless fun, I'll give him a past. Yet about 2 weeks ago on the Outdoor Channel program "Border Wars". A Arizona militia member had start making his own drones and a ground sensitive alert system that cost about $7000 dollars form him to make and introduce to catch illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. Border. He was trying to show the military and they was very impressed with application of the sensor grid and drones.
It does matter on many levels. I'll just state a couple: #1- We, THE PEOPLE, run the government and should not be "hiding" from anyone. We. the people, are getting bamboozled by many of those in government these days and just sit around and take it......it actually sickens me so much that I try not to think of it too often. #2-Not having to worry because I am a law abiding citizen is irrelevant. We in this country are so worried about the "ends" that we forget the substance of our country was founded on the "means to the end", meaning we are worried about quick solutions to things as opposed to having to struggle through things as a society and doing it the right way, the CONSTITUTIONAL way. For example---affirmative action (I'll spare you any more of my thoughts on this completely and utterly offensive, quick fix, on it's face unconstitutional law that was passed...but you get the point). Another example of this would be the Patriot Act.
If you are a law abiding citizen and have nothing to hide then, when the police want to search your house they should be able to just walk in and search it or even just look around in your house to check to make sure nothing illegal is going on. They can also decide to just look around on your private property when ever they want just to check and make sure nothing illegal is going on. I could see using a drone in support car chases or other ongoing criminal activities although I doubt they could be deployed in time to be effective. Their use otherwise, should only be allowed in the same way something like a legal wiretap or search warrant would be allowed. Personally, I don't like the idea of cameras, speed, red light or any other kind. The idea of the government monitoring the movement of its citizens bothers me a lot.
Ditto to the government invasion of privacy but unmanned aircraft are coming, like it or not. We have been using them for over a decade in the Middle East. They are very reliable and way cheaper because they don't require life support systems but could certainly be used for less than honorable/legitimate purposes.
