You use an Apple product to interface with the music on your Droid? Wolf in sheep's clothing... Mount it up like a USB drive and copy it in. I use Winamp on my Droid for listening to music. Much better than the default player, IMO>
Well I am hoping they will give me a good deal in the morning because I have had it with At&t and my piece of crap HTC phone.
I'm surprised noone has really laid out the differences yet. iphone: Better battery life, proprietary OS, Proprietary music player, Proprietary applications Droid: Open source OS, Open Source Apps, Standard MP3 Player, Battery hog, faster platform, and generally more stable. "droid" is not a phone, rather it's an operating system. The problem one can encounter when comparing the "two phones" is that most all phone makers have phones with the android OS. There's only one iphone maker. So, in fact, there are hundreds of andriod phones, and not all of them are created equal. I personally have the Android flagship phone the Samsung Nexus. It is google's phone, if you will. It crushes my brothers ip4 without issue. Not only are most, if not all, of my applications cheaper, but the phone is faster in everything it does. Due to it's powerhouse-ness it does tend to drain the battery a bit faster as compared to the ip4. But with the proper battery management I don't have to charge my phone except while I'm sleeping, and can generally get it to last two days unless I'm on the internet a lot. It's voice recognition is better than any other I've seen. It has voice google search, which is awesome for the quick searches everyone does. It's like comparing the nook to the kindle. Kindle only lets you buy books from amazon.com, where as the nook functions just the same, but lets you buy books from anyone, and even lets you rent them from the library for free. I'm surprised the iphone is as popular as it still is, because it is no longer the superior phone that it once was. Good? Yes.. The Best? No.. I have sprint, which is a network that uses CDMA, and for those who do a lot of international travel it is not a good network, as most everywhere else in the world uses GSM. With that said, My service is as fast, if not faster than, all those I know that have ATT and Verizon in my area. 4g sprint is everywhere I am, and it's fast. Not to mention it's way cheaper than ATT and Verizon. I have unlimited internet, no overages for data is huge for me. Unlimited text/picture messages. I have free cellphone calls to any network in coming and out going, and 900 minutes a month to use to call landlines. All this for $70? Yeah, all that for $70 For those that don't understand what I mean when I say proprietary vs open source. Open source means, in normal person lingo, that you can go anywhere to get content. So, you don't have to download apps, etc, from the android market. You can download it from any site that offers it, as andriod allows third party applications to be installed on the phone. With the iphone, you can only buy it from apple.. period. Food for thought.
Um... YEAH! THIS TOO! :D ... Man, I love my phone even more now ... Ferg, this should help you make a decision easier
To be fair, apple has more apps, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find an app in the apple store that you couldn't find something nearly identical in the android store.
iPhone hands down, I've not seen anything running Android that would make me want to switch. I've had an iPhone since Apple first released them and don't see it changing anytime in the near future. The battery life is great, I couldn't care less about the OS not being open source and I've had great stability with my iPhone. I upgrade my phone every 2 years (waiting on the 5 to upgrade this year) and never had a problem getting 2 years of use out of my phone.
The iPhone is sold at Corporate stores for at@t and Verizon, not just Apple stores There are also Android phones with GSM service on Verizon such as the Incredible 2. The iPhone on at@t will have world wide service, the Verizon iPhone 4 will not. There is the iPhone 5 launching in October according to rumors, I have heard it will have global support for CDMA carriers. Last but not least don't even think about Sprint Fergus, they suck balls in a lot of the areas you will be using them and Verizon's 4G services smoke the crap out of Sprints.
I never said you couldn't buy the iphone anywhere else, please read more carefully, I was speaking of the apple platform and the programs it allows and how you obtain said programs. Yes, some CDMA phones have GSM capability, but not most. I personally have never had issue with sprint in anyway as far as service and signal go (even out on the farm in the boonies ). I've been with sprint 12 years, so I think I'm qualified to speak about the service they provide. My gf had verizon (now sprint), brother has AT&T, neither service has been shown to be superior in my area, but they both cost a LOT more. Some areas, sprint doesn't work, so check a map. If they provide service where you'd use it, save yourself ~$1000 a year Next thing you know I'm going to get flak over shooting PSE instead of Mathews... lol
Phone providers is similar to ISP's. Go with whom you like and the one that gives you the warm fuzzy if you're into that.
Your making me jealous. Sometime close to the 26th expect a pm from me. I'd like to know your thoughts and stuff on it before I get it.
Love this thread. You guys do all the research, I just read I'm probably going to be joining the "smart phone" crowd soon, and really had no idea what I was looking for.
Iphone. It's the reason there is a Droid. Go with the phone the others are trying to be like. IMO And while you at it get an Apple computer as well They also rock.
Droid copied IPhone Droid App Store copyied Apples App store. With the Iphone 5 and IOS 5 coming this fall look out. ICloud totally rocks,
Just because you did it first, doesn't mean you do it the best (who here thinks a mercedes is the BEST car out there? Nice? Sure, best? No..).. Alienware is a far superior line of computers as compared to Apple (even though they were bought out by dell). Unless you're doing A/V. My windows based gaming computer is a notch above any apple computer you can buy. The only apple product I would ever consider buying is an Ipod... wait... nah not even that. Overpriced for what it does. I apologize for being so firm in my stance, but I find this entertaining
So I have a little more input on the Motorola Bionic. Battery Life- unplugged at 4am and periodically used until 11:30am. Battery life was at 50% while using 4g the whole time. Downloaded you tube videos for employees to demo the speed and also checked facebook 3-4 times per hour and the forum here 1-2 times per hour. Battery life is by far the best out of any 4G LTE phone I have seen. I had a few others experience the same and one reported it on my facebook page. Speed- The thing flies. Screen to screen movement has no lag time. I went from facebook back to the main menu and hit the you tube link and hit a music video and the time from facebook to the video playing was about three seconds. There was almost no load time for the video. I tested it on our loaded network at work, a building of Verizon employees that is anywhere from 600-800 strong each day. There are hundreds of 4G devices in the building and I was getting around around 4-6Mbps down and 2-3Mbps up. Just now at home it was clocking 12-14Mbps down and 4-5Mbps up, you won't see that with an iPhone Camera- Mediocre, typical of Motorola devices. I am hoping there will be a future software patch to speed up the autofocus as pictures took anywhere from 1.5-3 seconds to take. A shot of my dogs head ended up 45 degrees off when he decided to turn his head two seconds after hitting the button Fit and Finish- The outside has a nice Black Chrome finish, it screams Baller. The back cover is plastic, not my favorite material but lightens the phone seems durable. Screen- The screen is the best by Motorola I have seen, the iPhone might be a tad better as is the Samsung Super AMOLED screens. The screen is more than bright enough for me though. Size- Width is similar to a HTC Thunderbolt but a little longer. The phone is thinner than the Thunderbolt by far except for the area where the camera is. The Phone fits well in the hand considering its size and it lighter than a Thunderbolt. Cost- A little pricey but it is the best damn 4G phone going and I would rather have it than an iPhone. I have two employees with iPhones are want to order it so they can ebay their iPhones. Maybe the iPhone 5 will be the bomb but for now this my favorite Verizon device.
