Anyone else have problem with the battery in their droid draining fast? I have to charge the thing about 3 times a day. Not really used a ton either as far as browsing, video or anything that would drain it quick. Just simply texts and phone calls. Hell yesterday I went to make a phone call (first time i used my phone that day) and I was already down one bar.
One thing you should be able to do is to check WHAT is draining your battery. You should be able to go to "home- menu - settings - About Phone - Battery use" This will depend a little on what phone you have but the steps should be close. Yes, there is no doubt one of the drawbacks is battery life. I typically can get 8 hours on a charge with moderate use. Keep in mind the screen is typically the largest user of battery power by far on the droid's.
If you are in a place with a low signal, that'll kill a battery quickly ... other than that, see above post ... there are apps out there that will help you with battery issues as well ..
Do you have a task killer? That will help tremendously. I also set my screen timeout to 15 seconds. The display is killer.
yeah the low signal will get you every time. i can usually make it thru the day but i make sure no matter where i am i have a means of battery charging. work - usb to my cpu truck - lighter hook up home - reg charger out and about i bought an extra battery that i keep in my backpack sucks, but sucks worse being caught with no power.
Get an extended life battery fro SEIDIO. The battery on my HTC Incredible sucks, even with task killers and battery managers. Got an extened battery and I can go 2 full days without a charge. The best $60 I've spent in a long time.
i know a few guys who have done this as well but doesnt it make your phone fell like a TANK? weight/size wise
Haha, nice. Like a few guys have said, kill some of your apps, cut your brightness down to the lowest setting, and your screen timeout to 15seconds (already mentioned). I also kill my 3G when I'm home using wifi. I've heard good things about the extended batteries like Justin mentioned, I'm just not sure I have the physique to carry the extra weight. Also, disable your gps when not necessary, that's also something that keeps syncing which eats up battery life. That being said, I can almost always get 12hrs at least out of mine.
Word. I have the tank battery on my Incredible. My Thunderbolt has the regular battery and drains pretty fast.
My Driod doesnt do to bad I like it and well I get atleast 24 hrs on my battery but I dont watch a ton of videos and I have a task killer. Also I disable the GPS and the Bluetooth and that seemed to help a ton
I converted an old laptop battery into a portable charging station for when I'm away from power (ie hunting). White Killer is a great app to conserve battery. Also, the brightness of your display makes a huge difference. I have the google nexus and it has hot keys for gps, brightness, refresh, wifi, etc to turn them on off and adjust levels. I can go an entire day without charging if my brightness isn't on high. In the woods though, brightness is on high.
Sweet I didn't know such a thing existed. My display is using 66% I put it on the lowest brightness setting and 15 second delay (which they both werent). I think I'm in the worst reception area in the United States This sounds like a must. I'll bring chargers with me if i have too, I'm not giving up watching my porn!!!!
That usage doesn't reset when you recharge it. So, what you're seeing now is the old usage percentages. You have to actually reset the counter (done differently on different phones). Reset it, and you should see a big difference. My display uses 18% currently, cell standby is 26%, phone calls 28%.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like when I purchase a phone I shouldn't have to jump through 100 hoops of turning things off or down in order to get more than 1/2 day's battery life out of it. Even having to purchase an extended battery is lame. The contract on my Droid Incredible is up in December. iPhone here I come.
