so i just bought my video camera all the accessories i need. I bought the canon hfm50 and my microphone is the Pro 24-cm. I cant get the microphone to work when i plug it into the mic terminal on the camera. I will record and play it back and can hear when it is not plugged in but when it is plugged in and i play it back i cant hear squat!! Im getting really irritated with it. What is the problem??? Two things to check for.

    1. Does the mic have batteries installed, and is the mic switched on?
    2. There may be a setting in the camera's menu that you need to change in order to support the external microphone.

On my Canon you can adjust the audio level of the mic as to how sensitive it is.

You need to set up your camera to accept audio from an external mic.
