I dont know about this statement. You could be the most defensive driver and still cause accident more so than someone that drives with confidence. People say im a bad or crazy driver and i say no im just confident. People who know there skills (Siman) and use them and know their personal limits i think has a less chance of getting in a accident compared to the defensive driver who slams on the breaks every 100ft.

I think we must have different definitions of defensive driving.

Let me add that ive only texted and drove in my own personal vehicle.

....and that i have professional emergency vehicle operations training and certifications from multiple different programs. Ive driven everything from van-bulances to 28 ton pumper-tankers on a daily basis for 5 years now. Some people sit at a desk, some build houses, some collect welfare....i drive half million dollar vehicles very aggressively in emergency situations.

Hypocrite? Probably. At least im not afraid to admit it.

I don't agree with you there oly. There's a big difference between defensive driving and timid or scared driving. A good defensive driver is very confident. They are just very aware of their surroundings and can react to an unexpected change in a quick defensive manner. I know this from living in Italy for 3 years and driving for a year and a half over there. Its all about confidence and defensive awareness over there. Driving there was very fun and a very defensive adventure. Pretty much like a giant go-cart track. Haha. They know how to drive very well and know exactly how much car they have and they use it. :)

We could. When i see people driving "defensive" around here its more like driving scared. Ive even had some friends ive been in the car with say they were driving defensive but it was far from that. I think the definition is going to vary a lot on the state and individual.

At least you admit it. I just figured it was in your personal vehicle. Ill be in that same boat driving all those things around probably in the future. I want to just be in the back of the engine first though.

That was so anti climactic...I went back up there to see what big thing you had hit (ie St. Bernard, bunny, girl) only to find it was a bug.

Everyone does, its the glory spot. But learning to drive and operate the pumper first is WAY more important. Learn that first...trust me.

Ha oh my I bet you miss all kinds of spots in your yard. Idk I see the dangers in texting and driving I guess I jus don't get that involved in txting to take that much attention from the road. Granted it jus takes s second but I know for a fact I can't drive anywhere with my eyes glued to the road to make sure I'm perfectly centered in my own lane. I've had more close calls when messing with my phone. Jus one them things you can he as cautious as can be with amything and still wreck or get hurt in some way.

Same here. I sometime just look at my phone so it change up view points. If i stare at the road to long i can go into tunnel vision pretty much and i think that worse than occasionally checkin the phone or sending a quick text. This is on Drives over like an hour though, so my drive home from school which will be happening today. :tu:

Pretty much I don't see the point in hiding things from fear of criticism. Someone will disagree with whatever you do. I'd probably be shunned from here if I admitted half the stuff I've done over the years.

Ha yea long drives can get pretty boring, I spend more time looking at radio because there's never anything good on more than my phone.

    Unfortunately I'm just as guilty.

I dunno what's worse, the fact that I don't even need to look at my phone to text or the fact that I text enough that I don't have to look hahaha
