Imo. This is foolish and irresponsible. The 2 do not mix in the least. Not until afterwards and the weapons are put away and im safely on the ground. We have enough to worry about sober with falling out of trees and accidental discharges of weapons. Could you imagine being in a duck blind and forgetting to put your safety back on cause you were a little buzzed and killing your buddy? Nah im good. Time and place for everything. I did know some old timers that hunted behind us that used to sip whiskey while they hunted. I turned down every invite lol. I will say this though. When me or a buddy does get a deer down its usually standard practice that one of us stops at the gas station for a few 2x4’s to help cool down after the drag
Good lord, I screw up enough hunts all on my own. No way I have any desire to compound that by drinking. And the safety risk...yikes.
Out in the Colorado mountains, hunting for that prized buck, I decided to take a break and crack open my flask. A little whiskey to keep the chill at bay, you know? As I sipped, I couldn't help feeling connected to all the hunters who came before me. Suddenly, I spotted movement in the brush. With a steady hand (and maybe a touch of liquid courage), I took the shot and bagged my trophy(now I have some uncle lore)
I enjoy having a beer after,as a celebration. But I have never even thought about drinking while hunting. As others have stated I get in my own way enough to add any variables Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Hunting not a chance, fishing is another matter. You get caught casting without an open container in my boat it is a $5 fine.
If your drinking problems are such that you can't not have it while hunting, putting yourself and others lives at risk, you need to go seek help. I like a cold one as much as the next person at times, but I'd never risk hurting myself, someone else, or wounding a deer because of it. Thats just plain stupid. Wait until you're done for the day.
