Without even thinking about it, NO. Plenty of time for that sitting around the fire later if thats what you want.
I have bought a few with me to just sit In my box stand and watch deer after I filled my tags But I agree I work to hard to mix alcohol and a weapon when I'm hunting hardcore haha
I personally don't like the taste of alcohol but I also think that it impairs judgment which is no good with hunting.
I absolutely do not have anything before or during a hunt. I'll definitely partake in a few after getting out of the woods and back in camp for the night. But if i'm hunting all week, i'll only have a couple. Can't stand the headaches I get the next day. I have in the past had a beer or two over lunch and then went out that afternoon. I was fine, but for some reason, it just didn't sit well with me and I never did it after.
What if you smoked a joint with that beer? My feeling is that's a little more popular but I guess we're not allowed to discuss it around here I kid about this. I'm a kidder.
Completly against it! However like Caleb eluded to, cracking a cold one after the fact for celebrating is awesome!
Always have to have some beer after hunts and especially after a deer is killed but i never drink in the stand!
I can't believe there would be anyone that thinks drinking and hunting is a good idea. Wait till you are home to have a cold one.
Climbing a tree 20' + in the air & standing on a small platform doesn't sound like much fun if a guy is "half in the bag"? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I once took some cold medicine the morning of a hunt and some aspirin before an evening hunt one time.
Well I must admit. I'm kinda disappointed in how this thread turned out. Usually, the annual Drinking from the stand thread turns into a Jerry Springer episode. With that said. I view drinking and pretty much anything outdoor as a celebration of events. much like a cigar after a day of trout fishing or welcoming a new father. On every hunt i bring Beer or a flask. Now, I'm not saying I drink said beer or whisky while hunting, but instead they are to celebrate the events that transpired or to cheer me up while I have my palm to my forehead. I do not drink from a stand, but I will drink over spilled blood in the sand, Sam I am. I do not judge those who don't drink, but I just don't trust ya. I kid, I kid. I'm more worried about killing a deer then how cold my beer is. So stand tall you drinkers of the woods while Budweiser salutes you.
came up on a box stand yesterday that had been placed near my property line sometime late in the season and there were 11 empty beer cans in and around this guys stand.
This is a blast from the past. Personally speaking, I don't understand the desire to drink while hunting. Drinking and weapons just never seemed like a good combination to me, but I think it happens a lot more than people realize. Typically in a blind while either deer or waterfowl hunting. Again, not my cup of tea (or can of beer) but something that does happen. And unless I'm totally missing it somewhere, I've never been able to find any sort of law, rule, or regulation that says it's illegal.
We moved here and took ACTUAL truck loads of Genesse beer shorties out of the woods. Then each property we bought we were constantly picking up beer cans and those little brown bottles. Heavy drinkers at all hunting camps that were around here. STUPID! Afternoons around here were very scary.
hunting and alcohol/shooting and alcohol, pot, etc.... does not belong together in the field ... if you want to party, or have one afterwards go for it .... safety first by all accounts ...
