hunting in Germany. They have some good variety of hunting to include Red Deer, Roe Buck, and Russian Boars (huge).
Put me in the woods, in a treestand, on a pinchpoint, in the chase phase, somewhere in a zip code that's got a proven track record of producing B&C caliber whitetails, and I'll just be as happy as a magpie. I'm probably in the vast minority here, but I really don't have much urge to hunt anything other than whitetails. I've gotta shoot one big muley and one taxidermy-worthy elk to fill out my bucket list, but those will come whenever. I do wanna try elk hunting, and someday, I will. That said, I just plain love hunting whitetail bucks, and really have no desire to expand the menu. Funny you mention this, because the other day, I was watching some random hunting show, and they had a drawing for an African "Dream Hunt." I actually thought about what I'd do if I won. If I even had to buy so much as the airfare, I wouldn't even go. I'd probably just try to take the cash value and use the dough to buy a week in Sasketchwan. African game just isn't my bag. Same with European game - not interested. Athough, Stags are gorgeous, so if I ever had the opportunity, I'd go for it, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It's just not my kind of hunting... I'd really like to get out coon hunting again. We used to hunt the hell out of them when we were younger, but it's just so hard to find anyone with good dogs anymore. I don't even have any desire to shoot one if we treed it anyway. I just love sitting out, alone, on a mountain and waiting for the hounds to open up and tree. I'd also really enjoy spending a full day with a really accomplished canine trapper. Setting new traps and checking the lines. I've dabbled a lot with trapping, but never really fooled much with dogs. Mostly coon and opossum. I wouldn't mind learning a bit about trapping coyote and fox.
VERY good question. Honestly, I can't answer it. I've only hunted on my family farm in central Indiana. I want to try my hand at everything, from spot and stalk elk, Canadian black bear, hill country texas exotics, African Kumu, New Zealand red stag, Iowa whitetails... all would have the same special meaning.
My dream hunt would be to do a DIY camp in Colorado and tag out on Elk and Mules.... Plus having my wife there to cook My dad to tell stories too and by hunting buddy Smokey(aka) my Dog
Australian Water Buffalo. Alaska Brown Bear. Alaska Mountain Goat. Yukon Dall Sheep. Yukon Moose hunt from Horseback. Mule Deer above timberline in August. Mtn Lion behind a great set of hounds. Chamois/Tahr in the mountains of New Zealand if I ever get in good enough shape. Arizona Elk in September. Eventually a African Plains Game hunt of some sort. Iowa whitetails in early november. Alligators in GA from my own boat. TX hog hunt with a camp full of my best friends. I could never honestly answer this with just one hunt....but if you twisted my arm hard enough I'd likely settle on the Alaska Brown Bear hunt.
Might be kinda plain-jane but I would love to bowhunt for whitetails in Kansas, Saskatchawan, and Iowa during the late season. I also love the north woods of Wisconsin. Blessings.......Pastorjim
