As you requested Matt. I just put together three clips of me drawing back with different angles, to hopefully let you see something if there is something wrong with my draw/shot sequence that could be causing my wrist pain. Thanks.

Thanks. I'm hoping it's the angle. I was very particular about trying to keep my grip exactly the same for all three cuts. I don't have my grip AS radically outward as I originally did, but this is about the same angle I had it at when the pain started.

My draw sequence is something that I admit I need to work on. I draw pretty high.

I think that it looks fairly good, it's difficult to say more without seeing you in person. Do you feel tension in the front hand at all?

Yes, at my wrist. You see what was happening (I think), is that I was drawing back, and pushing forward, but my draw arm was overpowering my bow arm, and my wrist was bending backward. Most of the pain is on the bottom of my wrist (facing down to the ground when gripping the bow). Once I settle back at full draw, there's no more tension. It just occurs when I draw back. You can see in the side shots the my bow arm also naturally drops. I'm having quite the issue with that, and I'm attributing it to target panic, but the second I draw back, my bow arm wants to settle downward.

The problem is not how your drawing, it's placement on your bowhand on the grip. Your bow grip should be on the thumb pad part of your palm, on the thumb side of the lifeline entirely. If you put it there, when you push into the bow on the draw, the tension will be inline with the radius bone in your forearm. That inline pressure is going to allow you to relax all muscles in the hand even when pushing forward like you describe above, because the pressure will all be inline to have bone supporting it through the shot setup sequence. Right now you are using muscle/tendon to support through the shot setup, and that is what's causing the discomfort you are feeling.

Makes enough sense. I will work on that here later this week. I'm taking some time off to let me wrist settle and hopefully recuperate. Thanks, Matt.

Matt, I think Matt has pretty much nailed it. At any time you want to come shoot with Ben and I, I can watch you more directly and show you what Matt means if you don't already. I think, as well it looks pretty good. Ben and I were talking, I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Keep up the great work.

Lol thanks, guys. I do plan to get to some shoots this spring/summer, but you give me too much credit. I'm getting my form down, but hitting accurately and consistently is another story :D Yeah, I've shot a few 290+ vegas games, but I've shot a few practice rounds that are in the 288 range as well. I would have to say right now my overall average is about 289-290, and that's with about 10 total 30 shot rounds under my belt. Ben, I'm sure you would shoot just the same if not better, and Rob would wipe the floor with all of us (that's why he's not in the contest thank god:D). Any ideas when the first outdoor event is?

This is the only part matters. Forget about the outcome, focus on the form and shot setup, and the rest will just happen. Easier said than done, but that is how you get there.

I am guessing first outdoor to be April 5th. But we will just have to keep a lookout. In the mean time, we'll have to keep plugging at the long range indoor stuff.
