Ya just lower it to 60 and build yourself up pound by pound, but only crank up once you are comfortable with the current weight.
This is what I do to determine what is to much weight. I sit in a chair, with your hand you are holding the bow with, hold your bow straight out and draw your bow sitting down not moving your bow arm. If you strain doing that then its to much weight.
i can pull 70 all day long until im pulling back on a deer with hunting clothes on and its 25 degrees outside and been sittin in the stand for 4 hours. Its a whole new ball game. Got mine set at 63 pounds and its perfect. never had a problem with penetration at any yardage ive shot a deer at. my longest only being around 41 yards though.
im right there with bone_driven. While standing in the yard flinging arrows I can draw 70lbs all day long but when its cold and im in a large jacket with baselayers and my heart is pumping through my entire body while the adrenaline is flowing......thats a different story. My bow is set at 65 lbs now and I can draw her during any situation under any condition. I lost about 12-15 fps but the dead deer havent seemed to mind. I used to join the camp of draw as much weight as you possibly can....not any more. No need with todays bows honestly
My hunting bows from here on out will most likely be 50-60 Lbs. It's plenty of power, more manageable with bulky cloths, awkward shooting positions, and I can hold full draw almost twice as long.
