This. A lot of mechanical fail stories we see on the Internet aren't from the broadhead actual failing but from people using too little draw weight, ridiculously light arrows and poorly tuned bows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you shoot a deer through the lungs a dull field point on a cedar arrow it will kill it for sure. Probably in 7 seconds. BUT if you don't hit the both lungs you just did a terrible thing. How many deer are shot by mechanicals that they (ie Kandi or ?) did not find? OH yea...they don't put that on tv. How many do they shoot that it takes 20 guys 3 days to find? They don't show that either. I recommend staying away from mechanicals at 55#. FWIW - I killed lots of deer in the past with mechanicals and after losing JUST ONE I went to solid, fixed BH. Now it is Exodus or Hellrazors. Both fly great for me.
I pull 55lbs and am shooting 100gr Slick Tricks... They fly like a true field point if your bow is tuned properly.
I wouldn't use an expandable at that low draw weight, why chance it when you can increase your odds of a dead dear just fine with a fixed blade? I, being an newer bowhunter (3 years) got caught up in the perfect broadhead search, spent hundreds of dollars on fixed and expandables to test out. I draw 70lbs and and am sold on fixed blades. Fixed blades have put animals down for 1000's of years, expandables are new relatively. Expandables put deer down every year, so they do work.......spend a few bucks and find out what works for you and what you're confident in.
