My bow setup right now is a Bear GameOver 60#, 25" Draw. I have the limb bolts cranked all the way up and it doesn't feel like I am pulling anymore than the 50# I was pulling before. I don't see a very drastic increase in speed either. Could my shorter draw length be affecting the peak draw weight? Thanks!
Not an expert, but I think a short DW only gives you slower arrowspeed and has nothing to do with DW (though I have seen that some youth-bows have a different DW-scale for each DL...) I have a Hoyt Rampage 50-60#. The shop set it to 50# on delivery. My DW is also short, 26.5, but I did both feel an increase in DW and hear\see that arrows went faster and penetrated more on targets after I cranked it all the way up.
Draw length will decrease your speed the shorter it is. Turning ur draw weight up from 50# to 60# will increase your FPS, however i highly doubt you eye and can pick up the extra FPS which wouldnt be but 5-15fps (maybe more) depending on your bow. Only way to see how much speed you picked up would be to chrono it at 50# and then at 60#. When you cranked it up to 60# you should have had to adjust your pins correct?
A little OT from the threadstarter, but I reckon this was meant for me so here`s my answer; By seeing that the fps increased, I meant seeing the arrows penetrated longer and therefor reckon this was due to more fps. But the "target-hitting sound".... came "hearable" faster when increasing my DW from 50# to 60#. Have not measured my fps by a chrono after cranking my DW up so I have only my ears and eyes to count on when saying this. And yes, the pins offcourse has to be adjusted as both the hit-point and arrowflight will change when increasing\decreasing the DW. ---Probably many funny words here, beeing from Norway I don`t know the correct therms for these things but I reckon you get what I mean hehe!
Actually no, I didn't have to change my pins at all. (and I have them set out to 30yds.) Like I said, I can see no difference at all. I just picked up my new fletched arrows from the proshop tonight and they are shooting alot more accurate with a 2º helical.
"INbowhunter Actually no, I didn't have to change my pins at all." That causes me to wonder. At what point would one have to adjust the pins coming from 50 lbs going toward 60 lbs without changing the DL? RC
