Why do I never hear a discussion on the drag differences between aerodynamically slick combo points and relatively high drag fixed blade hunting tips? It seems conventional wisdom that a two blade head will penetrate tissue further than a three (or four) blade point because of reduced “drag”. Why does the same logic not apply to the external ballistics of an arrow/point combination? I would think it unrealistic to expect broadheads and field points to strike the same point of impact particularly at extended range i.e. 40 plus yards due to the additional drag (resistance to travel due to air friction) alone. The weights may be the same but a 1 pound rock won’t fly as far as a 1 pound dart.
