:)It all started when I got a call from a good buddy asking me if I'd like to join him at his cabin in northern MN for a weekend of bowhunting and I said hell ya lets do it!

We arrived at the cabin at around 3 PM and the temp was around 35 and we unloaded our gear and then he took me around on foot and we hung a stand for his bro and then we continued doing some power scouting before setting up and their is around 40 acres of public land across the road from their cabin and there is 6 acres behind their cabin that belongs to them and their neighbor, and the last spot my buddy shows me is this little clearing about 50yds off their driveway, but at first I didnt even want to go in and look, but boy am I glad I did, because this is one of those hunts I will remember forever!

Ok anyway to the hunt now!

It was about 4:30 when I got my tree picked out and made my climb up to about 18 ft and just as I am about completely settled in I stand up to make some seat adjustment and I hear something fall in the leaves and I look down and there is my damn release...so I was like "well wont be hunting without that will I", so I climbed down super fast and got my release and got back up in to killing position!

I get all settled in and I was expecting the deer to come from my left, because there was a ton of tracks crossing the driveway, and all of a sudden I picked up movement straight out in front of me and next thing I knew there was a deer walking right at me, and it was feeding and then disappeared behind some brush and I watched that brush for the next 20 min or so and then I saw him move in there and then he continued feeding towards me on acorns and about 10 min later he made it to within 22 yds and just as I was going to draw the wind died down and he caught my wind or movement or something and trotted off.

So I figured hell there is still plenty of daylight left yet and if they are moving this early, so I might as well prepare myself for an awesome night! Meanwhile I decided to turn my stand 90 degrees on the tree, so if a deer came from the road I would be able to hide behind the tree better, and well about a half hour later it paid off big time for me! I heard a twig snap behind me and I turn to see this buck walking about 5yds inside the woodline and about 20yds from me and perfectly broadside to me too...so I stood up and grabbed my bow and picked my hair right behing the front shoulder and the tracer nock disappeared in his body and he beat cheeks out of the area:D, then not five minutes later I hear another twig snap to my right and I had already nocked another arrow and I glance over my shoulder and there stands a huge doe not 10yds from my tree:eek: so I wait for her to slip by me quickly and she stops about 15yds out in front of me quartering away with her head behind the tree, so I draw and just settled the pin behind the last rib and just like that she bolts before I shoot:(

So I wait for another hr on stand till it gets dark and I meet up with Tim and we look a little bit for blood and find nothing, then all of a sudden I see my arrow nock blinking about 10yds from where we were standing and go over there and BINGO! we got blood and lung blood too, so we follow it for abot 20yds and it started slowing down, so I say lets go kill an hour or so and then come back out, by this time it had been 2.5 hrs from the time of the shot approx. We found a lantern in their shed and it needed mantles and gas, so we figured we'd run to town and then come back and look for him, well we get back and no glass for the damn lantern:mad:...anyway we resume the trail with out LED lights and we tracked him for about another 50 yds and all of a sudden the blood got really good and then just like that nothing but pindrops the last few yds and then it started snowing like all hell, so I decided we need to back out and just do a visual search in the morning.

The next morning me and Tims dad went out at about 9am to look for him and Tims dad said "hey I just saw a bird land over there" and the only bird I heard or saw was a tweety bird and he continued to where he saw the bird and said I found it and we were looking for the last place I had blood and marked it in the tree and I said Oh sweet you found the last spot and he said NO I found your deer" I was so damn:):):)... at least till I saw the coyotes or fox got him before we did:(...They only got one hind quarter tho:(:(:(

I ended up shooting him a little far back and ended up clipping the back of the lungs and getting guts too:(..Not my proudest moment, but heck a dead deer is a dead deer!:D

I thanked Tims dad for helping me find my buck and here he is!!!
