I come to find that "the block" is kinda hard to see downrange and the local shooting range is great but also hard to get to day to day. Needing a solution and doing some Q&A online I came up with a plan that would be a lasting solution.

    Find the scraps
Free stuff old carpet on Craig's list, go get it.
Estimate 4 regular house bedroom size pieces / Mine was 3
    Hardware store, trash piles
Ask around, "Hey you going to use that?"

    Shooting Area Size approx: 3' X4' X 18"
Replaceable Burlap, Make it fun, paint it with stencils and the kids.
Arrows pull smooth and stop great

Not trying to be an idiot. But I don't get it.

Are you saying that you're shooting a piece of carpet? (because if you are, you need to tighten up the draw weight. LOL) Or are you saying you wrapped a BLOCK target in carpet?

Lots of ranges do this as well. I just dont feel like making one I prefer a small store bought target. Thanks for sharing

Wow, alright fellas, the paint is fabric paint and field tips only. Yes you are shooting compressed layered carpet and the arrows pull like butter.
It takes a lot of work, and will last quite awhile. Total build cost me less than a new block.

O...sorry bra, the depth depends on the compression desired, tighten the nuts on the top four corners of the threaded rods around the target. See pics.

I wasn't busting your chops. I seriously didn't understand from your first post what it was.

I get it now. You cut a bunch of 18" wide pieces of carpet, stacked them, tightened them with the threaded rod and turned them into a target.

What are you using for the chassis?

Yeah, no worries..the base is tube steel. A frame we had out back, rounded up the caster wheels and welded the thing together. I got the idea from the range and thought..why not.
I am sure there are a variety of materials to DIY with this concept but the unit is heavy so mobility (wheels) should be factored in.

I shot down the hall..in through the garage side door..and at 11 yards missed the "Block"...sending the arrow right through the wall board.....then hung a sign by the arrow that reads..This is Why!

Our basement isn't finished yet so I could miss. But I never miss.
