Cabelas also has these StandHunter insulated bottoms and top if you hadn't seen them. They look decent and the reviews are pretty good.

I have an older heated vest from Gander Mountain, I've sat in 6º temp for 4 hours and had to unzip my top layer be cause i got too warm.
I have a down jacket that I've worn under my camo, it worked well but you can still hear it. My vest is starting to not work properly. I've been looking at the Milwaukee heated hoodie, may see if Santa will bring me one.

I bought my mother the heated jacket and she can sit all day without getting cold because of it.

As a Maine resident I’ve sat on some cold days. A Primaloft or down insulating vest makes a big difference in warmth. I put a larger coat on top to fight the noise. Check out LL Bean for vest. You could also look at the Sitka Shacket, checkout Ebay and the Facebook buy and sell groups.

I bought a Sitka Kelvin vest that I wear under my outerware. Pretty warm without restricting my arms for shooting.

I actually looked up at mine in my closet as I read this. I wear it waterfowl hunting as I’m usually done deer hunting by late December/january. Works very well. I think they do work better as the outter most layer because the air in them doesn’t get compressed out of them. But like you are wanting to do, I wear mine as an inner insulating layer and it is still awesome. Makes huge difference. I got this vest on some stupid crazy bargain barn sale too. I think I paid about $25 for it. [IMG][IMG]

Justin, let me give you a piece of advise that has proven to be a game changer for me. Maybe you already do this. I too will be hunting in the late season (actually love that time of year), and you bet it can get very cold. It can be even downright nasty during November some years.

I wear Sitka stuff and my gear, to take me through to February is the Fanatic jacket, Sitka Celsius Shacket, Fanatic Hoodie and two layers of Merino wool underwear, one in silk weight, the other in Expedition.

With that said, I still like something else to knock the chill off on days that are in the low 20s, down to 0. I abuse, ABUSE those chemical handwarmers.

My secret (maybe not) tip? Go to your local pharmacy or Walmart and look for a back warmer belt. They are cheap cloth pieces with velcro that you wrap around your waist and have two pockets to fit the body sized handwarmers in them. Put two in it, wrap around your waist and position those handwarmers on your lower back. You'll stay nice and toasty, even on the most miserably cold days and you don't have to wear 17 layers to do it.

Did you also look at the IWOM suit? Those keep your hands free so you could still run the camera and all that. Although I guess not having the Scentlock stuff visible may annoy the sponsor.

I know a few people who have used the IWOM - they liked it but didn't love it. Before I spend a bunch of money on something I want to make sure I'm going to love it.

On that same line of thought I know a few guys who absolutely love their Heater Body Suit. I've definitely given that a thought as well. If I can find a good deal on one I may just try it out at some point.

Like you I abuse the crap out of the disposable hand warmers. I usually go through 2 cases of them a year. I've done the back thing before during those brutally cold sits and it makes a world of difference. I've never used the belt, but I've gotten the ones with adhesive on them and stuck them to my base layer right over my kidneys. I also have an older HotMocs neck gaiter with a pouch in the back for a hand warmer that keeps it right over my neck. That also helps a ton. :tu:

I'm very intrigued by these pants. They look exactly like what I want.

Its funny I have actually heard the opposite. In any case IWOM has a money back guarantee. Take it to the field of you don’t like it return it no questions asked. You get a season to try it out. Look on the warranty drop down on the product page.

I do remember a few years back I was at a small trade show in KC. It was their last one of the season and HBS was selling their demo units for stupid cheap. I wish I would have picked one up. They even had my size which was a miracle unto itself.

Someone else posted this company earlier and they looked good too and they have the matching top in stock. I think the cabelas link had a top that only had 2xl in stock.

Also, you've talked about feet being cold and sweating. My wife bought me a pair of these socks last Christmas and I've tried them recently and they're amazing. It's a synthetic, merino wool, alpaca wool blend. I think you can get them on Amazon, too.

I asked Santa for these, I like to layer based on the temp, but sick of the bulk, hopefully, these are the solution. Reviews all say they are super warm, even the 1/3 star folks. If Cabelas was not a 1.5hr drive, I'd try them on and check the fitting. I wear a cheap pair of coveralls from Bass Pro when I ride my Harley all year and I'm always warm at 80mph. I want something I can pack in a bag and put on easily when I cool down from the walk in the stand.
My biggest concern is the arm/shoulder area, my experience with coveralls is they are a little tight when drawing a bow.

I'm a cyclist and as my base layer I use one of those black spandexy looking suits meant to handle cold temps on a bike. They're meant to be your only thing on except maybe windbreaker type stuff on the outside. I can ride a bike 15-20 mph in 20 deg temps so a bit of hunting clothing over the top and I feel fine.

D cell circa 1980 heated socks and 4 of those butane handwarmers strategically placed and I'm good down into the single digits. Our season is pretty much over before the real cold hits.

I wish the heated clothing I wear when riding my Harley would go up a tree, but the controls, thermostats, etc are hardwired into the bike.

Justin, I really like down jackets/puffy's for everyday cold climates here in Vermont. That being said, some of the outer "shells" have a thicker coating to help protect the down/primaloft on the inside. Which in turn makes for a very noisy garment when worn in extremely cold temps. Using it as a layering piece on the other hand has been my saving grace the last few late-season hunts. Black Diamond makes some fantastic pieces for layering, and although they are pricey, they will last years. I personally prefer a type of hybrid jacket/pants, stretch woven fabric around my armpits etc. to keep down sweat and over-bundling. I use the stance belay insulated bottoms: http://www.blackdiamondequipment.co...belay-insulated-pants-APUJL1_cfg.html#start=8
    and the access hoody: http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/mens-insulation/access-hoody-APKF25_cfg.html#start=6
the new Forge down hoody is at the same price point and is one of their new pieces I would highly recommend.
I'm sure there are plenty of comparable products on the market, but non of which I've had the opportunity to test in truly cold conditions. For the past 3 years I've been using exclusively Black diamond apparel for hiking, skiing and hunting late season. It hasn't let me "down". Let us know what you do decide on and how it worked out. Might make for a good review.

One other thing I'd point out. If you're REALLY committed to hunting late season each year and want clothing specifically for that, its very difficult to beat pure wool clothing. Two companies that I have some experience with is Sleeping Indian and King of the Mountain wool. I personally like the Sleeping Indian stuff much better. They're both unbelievably warm and well built. Though, they are very pricey as well.
