Anyone put in sunflowers and counting down the days for dove hunting like I am? Also going to try early season goose for the first time. Come on September 1st.

Yeah me too, opening day is a Sunday and then I will hunt the two following weekends after that this year and then hang it up for deer season.

The first hunting I ever experienced when I was maybe 10 years old was in an open field planted with about a dozen or so rows of sunflowers on one end...the memories are great. I haven't been in years though...I'll have to change that soon. How do you prepare your doves? I remember them being breasted out and the little medallion sized breasts fried up like chicken fingers...so delicious.

I love dove hunting. This will be my 3 year doing it. I don't hunt with any sunflower rows. I hunt tree lines. Dove are know to fly along tree lines and the place that I hunt there are about 8 trees line funnel down to 2 tree lines. I a use robo dove in a fake pvc tree about 25 feet in the air with dove decoys. I used to count the dove i saw or flew by but its over 100. I don't know how you cook them but this is the best way that I know of. http://www.fieldandstream.com/interstitial-ad/ad?destination=node/1001337408&duration=10

I love dove hunting! Hunting season officially arrives come September 1. My browning maxus is ready, cases of #7.5 Winchester shells are ready, I'm ready, now I just need that calendar to flip one more month. Anyone wrap them in bacon stuffed with cream cheese or velveeta, and jalapeño wedge done on the grill? That's some good eating!!!

That's the best way to cook them, especially while drinking a couple nice cold beers!

I don't dove hunt but as soon as the small grain around gets combined it's time for pigeons!! So just like you that's what I am waiting on until early goose starts.

    Frenchbritt, where are you from?

Haha that'd be awesome! Was going to scout new bait areas last weekend with a buddy but something came up so I couldn't make it unfortunately.

We had our worst year ever last year. Corn was out so early that the doves were spread out. This yr. should be much different.

Bought decoys to try this year. Not the ones that move. Gonna see if they make a diiference in the dead trees. Can't wait.

The last 2 years by us have been terrible. The 3 years before that were great, but the last 2 years being bad made me decide to just forget the doves and dedicate the areas I used to plant to some more deer plantings. Today there were a bunch of doves flying around at the farm so I'm kind of wishing I'd have done a field for them. Nothing better than dove breasts on the grill...
