Last night I shot a doe in my food plot, first deer I've shot on film - rushed it a little bit. Wasn't a very good shot - as you can see, the shot was back a bit I decided to wait until my morning hunt was over to go find her. It was a gut shot - very little blood and a lot of guts on my arrow that was a complete pass through. Seen 4 deer on my morning hunt, 2 small bucks and looked for her about 10:15. First spot she laid, she died. Had I looked for her last night good chance I would have pushed her and maybe never recovered her. Video coming soon.
Great job! Also nice addition to our teams point total. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.skyangler.com
Good for you doing the right thing! That is the hardest lesson to try to teach guys, especially on a big buck.
Yeah it was hard to do. I knew after watching the video that it would be a fatal shot, but also knew it wasn't a good one. Made a call to a friend and he confirmed what I already knew. Said, let her lay we will get her in the morning! Helps to have friends! I have learned my lesson, luckly not the hard way!
Nice work. And this has become the rule for me. Not sure of the shot, back out, period, til morning. Even if its warm out. Even if coyotes might get there first. Either scenario has potential consequences. Trailing a deer after a questionable shot (or one you're not sure of) has only one most of the time. No deer. Nice work again!
A bit back? LOL.. yeah but absolutely congratulations on both the doe and the recovery, kudos and a great lesson for everyone, Nicely done.
Hahah Rob was trying to make myself feel better about a rushed shot. She kicked that arrow forward when she turned all the way around - quite sure I got her liver came out left bottom shoulder
