Well I just got back from the archery shop and things went great!!! We bare shafted a 340 FMJ shaft with a 100 grain brass Insert along with a 250 grain field point. We started out with full length arrows and 1st had to adjust my knocking point a touch lower. After that we did a few small cuts on the shaft and ended up stopping with a 31 1/4 Inch arrow. Awesome arrow flight!! We even shot It through some paper to check the tear out, that was awesome as well!! The guy told me the tear was cleaner then most compounders get. Total arrow weight Is going to be about 750 grains. Man do they thump hard when they hit and the speed wasn't to bad either. I know It wasn't any slower then my 2216's are coming out of my recurve, heck they might even be a tad faster. I hope my Snuffers fly just as good when I get my arrows back after he gets them all fletched up. They'll be 4" 4 fletched white. What ya think Russ???
Thats good news Steve, sure sound's like they pack a punch! By the way, why are you letting this guy fletch up your arrows??? :d :d
I went to Minnesota Archery In Litchfield. Matt and Barry Kargas own It, you probably know Matt. He use to work at Archery Country In St.Cloud.
Steve Looks like I wasn't too far off the mark with the lenght Just don't aim one of those suckers at me:d Did your Bro do that little test we talked about?????????
You did well Russel!! If your asking about If he shot the 500's fletched up with broadheads on, no he didn't. He hasn't went up there yet. Is that the test your talking about?
Glad to hear you got some new arrows there Steve, I would definately hate to be the turkey thats gonna have to take one of those this spring.
Went and picked up my new FMJ's a few hours ago. Pretty looking they are. Anyway I went and threw my broadhead set up on my FMJ's that I want to use for hunting (160 grain glue on 3 blade Magnus Snuffer plus a 100 grain steel adapter) and went outside to fire off some arrows and see how they fly. They flew straight as can be, It couldn't of looked any straighter. Once I get pass 20 to 22 yards my arrows really start to drop on me. The total weight with the BH Is 743 grains with an FOC of 18.43%. I was hoping for 20 to 23 percent but I'll take It. Including the BH my arrows are 34 Inches long. When I draw It back my arrows slightly bounce a tad on the shelf, I might take another Inch off because It Is kinda noisy and plus I've got some weight to spare and maybe also some FOC to gain by doing that. We'll see I guess.
What a freakin tank of an arrow that is Steve. You will have knock down power, not pass through power.
