I have wanted to do this since I started hunting. I just havent goten enough meat to do so. If I have a good year this year I want to donate some of the meat to the VA. We have a homless program here at the VA. I am planing on giving them at least one of my deer. I hope to get plenty so I can do more for the men and woman who have served this country proud. I also want to give some to other homless organizations just don't know how to go about doing this. I live in RI and we have a large homeless population I guess I could give some to the soup kitchens but don't know if they would take the meet. If any one has any answers I would be greatfull.
    God bless

We have a program called Share the Harvest here in Missouri. Perhaps your conservation department has a similar program. We can take the deer to a processor that is participating in the program. We pay about $35, which is only a part of the processing costs and the processor and conservation department takes care of the rest. It's a great program to get the meat in the hands of people that can and will use it.

That was my fear that I give the meat away and it goes to waste

I talked to the homeless clinic at the VA and they want to cook it so the vets can bring the food home with them
