bow season (2000) worked with a guy named rick. got him into bow hunting. by selling him my old P.S.E.JET-FLIGHT EXPRESS. WE had to add alonger bow string to it. and a new sight to it. Well we practiced alot before season. About 3rd week of season we set up or tree stands, about 100 yards apart,on good deer trails. That saturday morning, about 8:30 i was looking north into a point with a cut corn fieldgoing around it. out of corner of my eye, i a seen a doe bed down. well i watched her for about 30 minutes. when rick came up behind my stand and said i shot a doe.I got down out of my tree stand.and told him there is a doe bedding down up in that point.WE proceeded back to his tree stand.he told me on the way that a doe came in on him at 20 yds. and bedded down ,and he shot at it but didnt know if he hit. We slowly worked over to the spot were she was bedded.we found arrow with blood on it with broadhead buried into base of tree. WE un-screwed it and i used my broad head remove-all tool i made at work.WE started tracking her. blood trail was heading right to were i seen doe bed down.when we got close she bolted. out a cross the corn field she went .we saw that her right front leg was almost shot off.He wanted to go right after her. I said NO wait . what would FRED BEAR do.he just looked at me.WE watched her from inside of woods, bed back down again.about 300 yds in a high grass field. I said here is the plan.WE will slowly work around (in the woods) and get in front of her, with a big creek to our left we will force her into it.they cannot swim well with three legs. WELL every thing went as plan.SHE bolted again right towards creek.WE took right off after her .following blood trail.right to creek .Then we heard big splashing noises,we ran to were sound was coming from. Sure enough there she was stuck in creek, trying to get up the creek bank.EASY 10 yd. shot. RICKS 1st bow kill. I felt good knowing i got him into bow hunting, and had a part in his 1st kill. This is what bow hunting is all about.
