I broke my bow out for the first time in at least a month this week. Trying to shake the rust off and get my broadheads dialed in so i'm not rushing things come October. This is a group from tonight (field points). It was at 20 yards. Need to stretch it out a bit and get my sight tape on.
I just taped in an HHA one-pin sight on my Elite and got 'er dialed in. That's a sweet bow; pleasure to shoot.
Yeah, I looked pretty wimpy to the guys at the range who shoot year round, struggling to pull 60# for more than 4 arrorws, but I am not hunting until the last week in October & have time to work the muscles into shape. I'm ok with my progress and feel I am on pace to get there.
I try to shoot 45 arrows from different ranges out to 40 yards every day. I shoot one arrow, retrieve it, walk back to a random spot, shoot and repeat, concentrating on form and repeatability. Always surprises me when I miss a step, such as neglecting to zero my sight dial, but it happens frequently. Every other session, I shoot from different angles from a ladder stand. Apparently, I'm not a natural archer, because if I don't stay boned-up the skill perishes quickly. Re-conditioning to this new sight system has almost been like starting from scratch.
