I can't believe I'm reading this post. What a waste. The fact that shooting domesticated dogs was even mentioned makes me think less of all of you. Feral or rabid dogs attacking cattle or livestock is one thing but there are a hundred options I'd go with before shooting a dog for scaring away a deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Where in my post did I say he should kill the dogs? I merely stated what the laws are in my state regarding this manner as a point of reference. I now have less respect for you as well buddy.
The whole point of this post was to get options, ideas that others with same said problem have used to correct it. Like I said, one officer told us that after attempts to correct it other ways, taking care of it by shooting them was an option. I just want other ways. Again, I am a dog lover. It aggravates me that I work so hard to prepare food plots and such and practice regularly, and then get foiled by someone else's dog on my property. Lack of respect for other people as well as their own dogs is what it feels like to me. Read what is actually written before you mouth off and criticize. Your feeble mindedness now makes me think less of you, too
I believe it's not legal to shoot dogs that are running game on your property or even attacking your pets on your property in Illinois. It is legal to kill them if they threaten you or your family or harass/kill your livestock. (chickens or rabbits or cattle, etc..) People who let their dogs run on other people's property can only blame themselves if their 'beloved' pets never return.
Read the whole thread before you open your mouth next time! I never said I would kill a dog on my property, I was just going along with the ? For what to do with the dogs running wild on my property chasing the deer off, and sitting at the base of my Stand freaking barking not letting out of the stand trapping me up there I think I'm going to do something to scare them off! I don't see how you can think less of ALL for trying to get info or advice on what to do. I now think less of you sir!
In Illinois it IS legal to shoot a dog that is harassing wildlife on your property! And rightfully so, you can think less of me all you want...obviously there are different scenarios that would cause me to shoot a dog. If it's property where there are a lot of houses, I would just talk to the people around. If it were out in the country and it was a mangled looking dog and I had never seen it before, I'm killing it.
Id be pissed if someone shot my dogs. If a hunter told me about the problem my dog would be tied up for good. I wouldnt want someones dog to ruin my hunt. I would never think about shooting someones dog. Talk to them and if it doesnt work call the pound or warden.
Exactly! If the owners don't care about them, why should you? From what you say, those folks were told about the situation and chose to do nothing about it? If it's the same dogs all the time, fire away. Here in Pa, you can kill a dog that's chasing deer.
I wasn't talking about your post. Why would you assume that? Because I posted after you? I was commenting on the entire thread. But good comeback though, it was original. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wow! You are the second person who has responded with the same thing. I didn't quote anybody in my response, so there is no need to take offense. I was merely stating that the situation was suggested in the thread overall and it's definitely not a route I would take in dealing with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeah they just keep nipping the ass and kill em saw a couple dead ones last year that way i say you tell em if you see one running deer that your gonna shoot it and see what they do then
