....hate another part of the state? Or does one part have an elitist attitude towards the other? I ask this because here in LA, south LA has the elitist attitude that they are the "real" LA and generally do not accept the top half of the state as LA. This attitude is mainly most prevalent in New Orleans and it's surrounding areas. It's quite annoying. The hate also stems from the majority of south LA is Catholic, while the majority of north LA is Protestant, and I think we all know how well Catholics and Protestants get along. I'm just curious if any other states are like this?
I don't think Texas is like that. I've never had any anomosity towards any other part of our state but who knows, other areas may not like East Texas
Well except for Austin. Austin has a fairly pretentious attitude towards the rest of Texas. And the constant feud of which city is better between Dallas and Houston.
I wouldn't say parts of Michigan "hate" other parts, but there are certainly running jokes between the upper and lower peninsula. "Yoopers" (UP residents) call LP residents "trolls" because we "live below a bridge" or another term they use is "flatlanders". Some yoopers hate trolls because they think trolls come to the UP acting like they own the place, as many trolls think they are smarter than yoopers. Most of it is in good fun, but some have a strong dislike for the other.
True, Austin is full of a bunch of dang Hippies:D Oh, and Oklahoma and Arkansas is full of rednecks while Louisiana has it's fair share of coon-asses:D:D
Virginia is the exact opposite of how you described, Hooker. The Northern Virginia has the elitist attitude because they are the rich part of the state while Southern Virginia has more farms and blue collar jobs/people.
Illinois is really at least two states. The State of Chicago which, politically, runs (ruins) everything. Then there's the rest of the state. Of course, southern IL is almost another state yet. Central and Southern IL don't hate each other... but we both hate Chicago.
I hate Chicago, but not the people... just the politics and corruption and BS that goes on up there. Well.... I've only been up there once, so I can't say that I don't hate the people. I just don't like the way people in any city are. I like country living where everyone is polite to everyone, and people don't honk at you if you sit still at a red like for a second before noticing it turned green.
There's definitely a divide between the city slickers (Minneapolis and St.Paul) and the rest of the country folk but mainly the northern part of the state here In Minnesota. Rightfully so too I'll take the side of the country folk. I've put up with these city slickers way too many times while bear hunting. They bring their city ways to the country, I hate It!! I know not all city folks from Minneapolis and St. Paul are like this but the majority I've saw were. Back when I played hockey In high school, the parents and the kids from the big cities were arrogant as hell! They looked down at you like their **** didn't stink.
Try working construction (My dad is a 2nd generation water and sewer contractor) in Minneapolis/St. Paul. I drive BACKHOES with big 4x8 steel "Stop boxes" (to prevent cave ins) during morning rush hour from NE Minneapolis to all areas of MSP.
I really have no idea. I could see how many parts of Virginia could dislike Northern Virginia being it typically votes more liberal than the rest of the state, and much of the big money comes from this area. But I wouldn't know because I don't hang around people that live in other areas of the state.
In New York, people from long island and the city think upstate is a bunch of hicks, and people from upstate think they're just *******s.. Im from long island but go to school upstate and pretty much all of my friends are from up state so i kinda see both angles... I hate the city and long island...
I dont' know if it's a "hate" towards other parts of NY. It's definitely different though. I always get a kick out of telling someone you're from NY and they immediately paint a picture of you being a city slicker from NYC. They immediately associate NYers with NYC people. That's only a very small part of the puzzle. Central NY, upstate NY and the southern tier of NY is some of the most beautiful country you'll find anywhere in the country. Very different lifestyles too. But.... I dont' really see a rivalry so to speak within the state.
But no matter where in Illinois you are from you are still a F.I.B. at least to those here in Wisconsin
