If you don't, check out this link, http://www.unitedbloodtrackers.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=6 ... It's worth the information if you have that worst case scenario... tracking dogs can be utilized to find game hours if not days later. These dogs have been known to do some amazing things... you never know. I know there are many here that can testify to their amazing feats and I also know that some may have never known. This has been a public service announcement.
Virginia just passed it this year, finally. The only stipulation is you cannot have a weapon in your possession which is BS. In other parts of the state you can hunt with dogs and have a weapon, of course. Go figure! I was planning on eventually getting a tracking dog whether VA approved or not. Glad they came around anyhow. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Interesting link. I'm hoping that I never have to use it. Wishful thinking. Didn't know it was illegal anywhere. I see that Iowa only allows in certain areas.
Not legal here in Iowa. But there is nothing that says you can't take your dog for a walk.....just a thought.
I see what you did here. I have friends that coon hunt. If out of season you can still run the dogs without guns to train. I don't understand why this is illegal in Iowa or any other states. Obviously, if someone wanted to get around it they could. Is the game warden going to ask the dog what he is tracking?
The map shows it's legal in certain areas. Iowa Code clearly states that dogs are forbidden in deer hunting and recovery is part of hunting. I have been contacting state legislators for a few years trying to get this changed but they have other crap to deal with like NOT letting the voters decide whether or not to allow same sex marriages.
Legal in Wisconsin if the dog is leashed. I have a blood tracking pup. It has been a lot of fun so far.
