No hate from me. We shoot the young of the year of everything else, why not deer? Young of the year ducks, geese, doves, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys etc.
I'll shoot on Oct. 1st or January xx. July or August were it legal might be a bit of another story. I'm not too worried about traumatizing a deer, odds are most of the doe gave birth so even shooting a lone doe after they've chased off the little ones you're still making an orphan. After the rut they'll here back up and all will be fine. I doubt it's like picking teams in grade school where one is always the odd one out, or the kid who's parents never show up. Nothing wrong with not shooting, to each their own. But one way or the other you're still doing the same thing no matter when you shoot that doe.
These days, I usually don't kill a doe that has fawns. We have so many does, there's always another one coming by that doesn't have any.
It really depends on how big the fawns are. There are 2 on the land at my house that are still a little dependent on the mom so I won't shoot either of those (plus I'm trying to bring the doe population up, but that's beside the point). Friday I saw a doe with 2 fawns on a highly populated piece of land and I definitely would have taken her. The fawns looked older and more independent, plus there were other fawns, looked like a nice healthy heard.
