I think it's ashame it turned out the way it did. Your right, you just asked a question. If guys have issues with one another, as far as I'm concerned they could fight it out in private messages, rather than out in the open for everyone to see.
not sure if it was said before, but werent they recently sue'd because they dont work as well as they advertise
Scent Lok I have been busted wearing my Scent lok suit, but every time I could remember something I overlooked. If you follow instructions and breath through the material of the headcover it works. Also about the dog thing, I don't think a whitetail has the nose a canine has. I wear rubber boots sprayed down with scent killer and have never had a whitetail cross my trail and becomed alarmed. I do clear my trails so I don't rub against weeds, branches and such so all they could smell was my tracks. I have had coyotes come to my trail and it's like they run into a wall, spinning around and hauling butt! Of course they usually follow a trail with their nose stuck in the trail, lifting their heads ocassionally. Deer seem to do the opposite unless it's a big buck trailin a hot doe, then he smells only her it seems. Anyway you guys quit arguing the effectiveness of Scent lok, the more people that buys it the higher the price will be!
In my opinion, it absolutely does not "work" but it "helps." It is also not "needed" but it's "nice to have if you can afford it." If you're not rich and one of those guys that has to have the latest gadgets and toys, then don't waste your money. And before anyone flames me... yes, I have one. You CANNOT simply put on a ScentLok suit in the morning and expect miracles... human odor is a fact of life and deer have amazingly sensitive noses. However, coupled with an excellent scent elimination routine before and during the hunt, these suits will HELP REDUCE THE BODY ODOR CAUSED BY YOUR PERSPIRATION THROUGHOUT THE DAY. That's it... nothing else. It is not a "shield" but a "deterrent." ScentLok is a good product idea, but it's part of a routine. You can't skip the basics: - If you ate a dinner of ramps the night before, you'll still stink to high heaven. - If you used Axe Body Wash instead of unscented soap, you'll still smell like Eurotrash to the deer. - If you are a smoker, you're screwed if you are upwind no matter what you do. That stuff can't be covered up. - If you wear your hunting boots while you fill up your gas tank, you might as well turn around and go home then. I've had large deer come within 5-10 feet of me when I was wearing nothing but my regular hiking clothes and kneeling behind an old log... you don't HAVE to have anything except a nice prevailing wind blowing from the deer towards you. ScentLok can help, but for the money, I'd invest in a $5 bottle of Scent-A-Way (earth cover) at Wallie World and spend the remainder of the money on flowers for my wife so that she'll let me hunt an extra day or two this season.
Activated Carbon works like a sponge, and adsorbs ( not absords) odors. Just like a sponge, once it's saturated it can't adsorb anymore and must be "reactivated". The only way to reactivate the carbon is that it must be heated to a minimum of 1472 degrees F. Obviously, if you had the ability to to do this, the garment wouldn't survive. Products like Scent-Lok can't work based on simple science. You can choose to ignore the science if you wish, it's your money and your choice. We've all bought crap that doesn't work, if nothing else you have some expensive hunting clothes.
you can make sent lock spray your self, and it works just a good, 1 milk jug 1 bottle of fish carbon put it into the mill jug and fill, and shake a lot, then filter out the carbon and spray, its is about 3 bucks a gallon persay 20 bucks
