This may be a stupid question but here we go. If a doe fawns late in the year do u think she is more likely to come into estrous later the next year? I ask because a couple of the does that hang out on my hunting property had fawns that are still pretty small so I know they were probably late. Not to mention that last week the smaller buck that followed one of them and her fawns had no interest in them at all u he barley gave them the time of day.
no, I doubt it. It's not time yet, in my area they don't come into estrus for another 1.5-2 weeks. The Pre-Rut is when the bucks start chasing, but that isn't the same as the true RUT. When the does come into estrus they will lock down with a buck. Does will start coming into estrus next week. Maybe a few this weekend, and a few later, but the majority will start the week of the 7th.
Yeah I was just kinda miffed at the situation because usually once I start seeing scrapes n rubs all over the does are atleast leery of those little guys and they didn't seem to care about him at all and he didn't seem to care about them
I will admit, it is odd that he didn't at least pester her. Who knows why, but I can tell you we still have a few days before the girls start to smell.
