Amen to that...I never cared what a girlfriend thought, but I guess I am lucky like alot of you in the fact I have a great wife. We have an 18 month old and the only reason my hunting time changed at all is because I stay home more from time to time on my own. She does not say a peep about it and I am in a tree from early Sept until the last day in Jan. Like Brett said, I am also not dumb enough to abuse the privalage either. Take her shopping all day during the middle of the rut...one day boys, just one day will make her shine like the sun. I gladly give up a few of those days to stay in the woods or in a stream as much as I do...and that is alot. I have deer property 20 minutes away, and public land turkey 25 minutes away. I also take my tail to work everyday, and do anything needed around the house whenever she asks, and the yard stays in good shape. Make her proud of you and she will also accept what you do alot more.
I concur, my wife knew what she was getting into, which makes it just another few months of the year.
Hey i contributed what i had knowledge of :D I dont doubt it for a second either And as a note, its going to be a long time until im done having "misses"
She hunts now and gets pissed when I go without her. She doesn't have the same drive as I do. When she can't go because of other plans she expects me not to go either. Ya right.
being that this is my first year deer hunting... I have taken an increasing amount of grief from the wife. BUT I am also a 19 year veteran of our marriage and have learned about how far I can push before a major blow up. I take my son with me...and we just did our first overnight hunting last weekend. I predict more! Sean
Kathy has Bowhunted herself, and even though she is not obsessed as I am she totally understands my passion and backs me 200% Dan
mine is great, she never complains maybe in the early years a little bit. But i hunt near home and get home after dark, maybe if hunting was better far off that i would need to be gone most weekends then there would be a discussion , one sided i would bet.:D after all she has all the money and all the umm. well you guys understand.
I guess I may have painted my wife a little hard early. after reading most of the posts she was ok most of the season until I took a second trip to southern IL. And of course didn't fill my buck tag so I'm left with begging to get out some more. Of course the brand new lone wolf stand and sticks didn't help my case much lol. Btw I do 99% of house work and handle all the bills so I can't use that to soften her up
Mine wouldn't like if I took off out of state for a week or weeks at a time like some of you guys. She however is very good at putting up with all our shed hunting, summer scouting and hunting here. We spend a lot of time doing each one. She spends more time in the archery shop and cabelas picking up things for me then I do with my work schedule. She has done a lot of running for Tyler and me just for our shed hunting and hunting. She helps me cut up deer all the time and doesn't even like eating it. She's even offered to come help me drag a few deer out when I call her to tell her I have one down and I will be a little late getting home. I've never taken her up on it but it sure makes you feel good that you picked a good one to share your life with. I sure can't complain !! Tim
My wife grew up in a hunting family...she never wants to go, but totally understands and wants our kids to go. And she likes deer meat ...the only time I get looks is when the skinned deer is hanging in the garage...we met young so she know's me better than anybody...I got lucky...
Very similar story here too. Her family is a hunting family, she has no desire, but likes to put our 6 month old in camo.
