I'm looking to order some base layers from first lite and am wondering what size I should order. I'm 6' and weigh 180. I'm just wondering how bad their wool shrinks. I don't want my base layers baggy but also don't want waist or wrist not being covered

Not in my experience... I haven't noticed any shrinkage but I follow the washing instructions carefully or just hand wash and hang dry

Anymore only my baselayers see the wash machine...everything else gets a hand wash in totes with activate carbon and hung to dry or into the scentmaster box to dry. Sucks but I prefer this.

I often don't have time to hand wash and certainly not line dry. I wash my First Lite with cold water and the gentle cycle and dry on low. I usually will take them out when they are still a little damp and let them air dry the rest the way. I have on occasion not got them out before they were all the way dry and they don't seem to have shrunk much if any at all.

IMO, anything that is a PITA to wash needs to be re-considered before purchasing.

Washing hunting clothes like they came from Victoria Secrets isn't for me. :-)

I wash my merino with cold water and then air dry. It's not first lite (Kuiu and C4E), but it has held up nicely.

Haven't had any issues with it ..gentle wash and then gentle dry in the dryer

Merino wool will shrink if left in a hot dryer too long. I try to keep merino wool out of dryer and air dry. It is expensive enough it isn't that hard to hang on something and forget about about it overnight. It dries fast. I figure it might extend the life of it some, but that is just my thought. Not a fact.

I hang dry most things because I'm 6'4' and finding things in tall is hard sometimes. Once something doesn't fit right I usually don't wear it. When it comes to my hunting clothing I'm pickier than a 16 year old girl with how it fits. Comfort is important to me.

Original question though.... I would go with large or x-large for shirts. Depends how you like the fit. Large would probably work unless you have long arms for 6 foot. Especially for base layers.

    I'm 5' 10" 185lbs and Large tops and bottoms fit well. I have a 6' 3" wingspan and the sleeves aren't short

I don't spend more money in order to have to do less though sometimes...I do it for better quality. With quality comes care sometimes.
