Have friends that hunt? It's almost like nobody my age knows anything about bowhunting around here except for one or two other people. Makes it so hard to learn in this sport. That's why I joined the forum TBH... I mention hunting or bowhunting to my friends they shake it off and change the subject. I've even been called "weird" for hunting and liking archery. Anyone else join the site because they couldn't find anyone else around to talk about archery with?
Maybe you are hanging around the gym too much I have friends who hunt and have made a lot of friends here that hunt.
Yeah. You definitely won't find anyone in the gyms up this way that hunt. I have one friend that hunts, but he doesn't have many friends that hunt either. His fiance's cousin, his grandpa, and maybe one friend. My grandpa hunts too, but he's currently unable to hunt. I have only one cousin that even considers hunting, but he knows absolutely nothing about the sport. When we're shooting bows and the bow is pulling downward he's not one to talk about technique, adjusting the sites, adjusting the knock, etc. As a matter of a fact he doesn't own a bow, gun, or ever been hunting.
Well how old are you? I'm nearing 30. Of all my friends, I'm the only one that hunts. My cousin's fiance, who I'm good friends with now hunts a lot. We often shoot together. However, he works crazy hours so that is becoming more rare. There are a couple of guys at work that I shoot with rarely and they hunt. But I don't go hunting with them.
After 35 years of nagging, and giving him a bow, and lessons and all the required releases, sights and all that I finally convinced my childhood friend of 55 years to take up bowhunting in 2007. He shot 4 his first year, 8 the next year and 7 last year. I guess he's hooked. He was 64 years old when I talked him into it. Just think of the fun we could have had if he'd listened to me in the 70s.
I've got a handful of friends that love to bow hint their the ones that got me started in this fine sport
I have several friends that I bowhunt with but it took a few years of networking friends of friends to get there.
Yes it is. Honestly, I talked to him for years about how much I learned about deer while bowhunting. Told him all about watching their reactions and what they do. Told him I learned more about deer my first year of bowhunting than I ever learned while gun hunting. Just about every time we talk bowhunting he recites back to me every thing I said. I'm on the down swing and not so caught up in it now. He's just going nuts at 67 thinking he's found a new life. It's fun to watch. I've had many bowhunter friends over the years like Len from Maryland, Rickmur etc..... but my buddy Chuck is a joy to watch. He's 67 and just energized. He's like the kid in a candy store. Luckily, he has a sort of petting zoo to hunt in with some nusiance permits to boot. He's having fun.
Great to hear. We just need get the younger generation (my age and below) hunting and fishing. Pretty soon, clubs, street racing, and video games will forever corrupt the outdoors way of life if we do not fight back. 8-)
I have a bunch of buddies that claim that they are hunters and big into it, but only have 2 that really are as into it and understand it like I do. The cool thing is, is that I got both of them interested in it
