So I was watching a group of 5 doe's out in the field eating and what not. Then all of the sudden a very nice buck comes running full speed into the group and into the other woods. The doe's immediately followed him into the woods. I waited and waited for them to return. Only one doe came back out out that was it. I've heard of bucks chasing does but not does chasing bucks. Pretty neat thing to see..

sure they weren't running away from yotes, or some other threat?

No, it was just weird the buck came charging out of the woods and they all followed him into the other woods.
Could have been some spooked them, I've been seeing/hearing coyotes lately

that would be my guess considering he was running before he got to them. but who the hell knows, i've seen does kick the hell out of small bucks in Saskatchewan.

I killed a buck in 2007 that was being followed by a doe. I rattled the buck in and as he closed the distance a doe began to trot after him until.....I arrowed him.

i'd guess they ran into the woods because he did, had it been a doe or elsewise, they probally figured there was something dangerouse around that made him run...

I was talking about this, yesterday. I'm hunting a fav. little woodlot, last year. I hear deer running; look up, and there a little buck running across a pond dam with a doe on his hooves. I just thought...."that's weird".

At the end of the dam, the buck goes left and the doe goes right. 45 sec.'s later, the yote crosses the dam and turns right. The little buck was right behind me, under a low-hanging limb. He had been quiet. But, when the yote took the doe's trail...the buck started panting, loudly (like he'd been holding his breath....lol). He stood there for several minutes. Out of the blue, he starts grunting...at nothing. Just grunt, grunt, grunt.........grunt, grunt, grunt (maybe 2 minutes worth). Strange encounter.

that it odd I was thinking more about it last night. Thought maybe he just ran into the group to check to see if any were ready to bread. Then he pissed them off so they chased him away
it was like he charged them and actually bumped one of them with his head

A doe ready to breed will seek out a buck but I think In your case this wasn't the case. The doe's you saw ran that way I think because the buck ran that way and was possibly running from being spooked.

    Who really knows though.
