    Here are my unofficial stats:

1 in every 3 women under the age of 20 text while driving

1 in every 7 men under the age of 20 text while driving

The average person does not look at the road for 3.2459 seconds while texting.

    People are dumb.

People are stupid that text while driving 58.9+ mph.

I see people doing it all the time (driving and texting).

I've never sent a text.....period. I look at my 18yr old doing it .......and I imagine myself looking that foolish.....lol.

Jeff, I am surrounded by texting fools in my wife and her family. They love it. I HATE texting but have to occasionally do so to survive. :)

I think texting has its place but its not behind the wheel. In fact it (texting while driving)is a pet peeve that is moving higher up on my list at a fast rate.

Texting behind the wheel is indeed dangerous and our company strongly advertises against it. Another manager in our center was rear ended on Friday by a guy Texting while returning from lunch. There are a lot of phones with talk to text out now so hopefully that helps the text junkies.

I see people reading the paper, applying make up, eating and texting. I wish I had a laser pistol.

I text to my wife while hunting. She sends family pics/updates while I am in the stand. When I am hunting with my buddy we will text with updates from time to time while in the stand. Texting has its uses but I cannot imagine it as a normal mode of communication.

like bruce, i see folks reading books/newspaper while driving, eating drinking and talking on the phone while driving, applying makeup, etc... texting is hardly the worst thing going on out there... some times it makes me afraid to ever want to drive a motorcycle on public roads...

    Texting while driving is dangerous.

But necessary from the treestand...how else would we get the teaser threads started so quickly:)

I only text and drive while also drunk and speeding. Three wrongs make a right. :)

Now texting while in a construction zone while drunk and speeding is just plain wrong. Or was that three lefts make a right? Meh... I need more caffeine.

I honestly can't believe there are not more accidents due to texting than there are. I calculated (just today) every fourth car is swerving in my lane looking at their phone and texting. I have a problem sometimes while looking at deer while driving. To my knowledge not illegal in NYS yet. But dang... you can't type and drive at the same time! Make talking on the phone legal again to make it more safe than texting. Pretty simple IMO.

In MI, texting while driving is illegal, but talking on the phone is not. Both are not very safe, but texting is pretty bad. Anyone that thinks they are good at texting and driving, let me say this is the simplest way...you're not. Saying that is almost as good as the people that claim to drive better when drunk.

They made talking on the phone illegal in NY. Which I kind of "got" at the time the did it. But that led to making everyone not wanting to get a ticket for talking while driving to text while driving. Which IMO is 100 times more dangerous. When you think about it, it is really not that complicated to talk on the phone and drive. At least you can still keep your eyes on the road. Texting you have to keep looking at your phone to see what you're typing.

You give a drunk a cell phone to send a text and they will give you unlimited entertainment.
