I bowhunt deer 8-9 months a year due to a Permit I am on. I am going to bow hunt turkey this year for the first time.
We dont have a yote problem most hunters dont realize how many yotes there are on your property just cause you dont see any doesnt mesn a thing if you have one deer youll prob have around 4 yotes per deer they might not live on your land but there there. Yotes breed 2 times a year with 7 to 12 pups a litter did you know that. i studied a yote breeding program for 3 years and seen how rapidly they breed and triple in numbers yotes are like ghosts they are there trust me most only come out at late night but theres tons everywhere thats why were allowed to hunt them all year with any kind of weapon. you also have to relize im on 2 pieces of property that equal ove 3000 acres thats alot of land for yotes and also our neighbor breeds pheasent and birds for the state the yotes come in and tear the nests up and kill a ton of birds since they nest on the ground he doesnt hunt so i help him out in a great way each year plus it keeps me hunting but to say only if you have a rampant yote problem you can hunt all year is dumb. Learn about yotes and youll look at it differently.
Punctuation is your friend :D In all seriousness, I was surprised at the utter lack of coyote tracks and sign I've seen over the last few years. Having my Red 40 over a carcass this winter with only two shots of a Coyote sort of reinforced that. I think hunting them could be fun, but I don't see a need where we are at this point. Foxes and bobcats on the other hand...
I typically put my bow down for turkey season but not anymore, we are going to start hunting turkey with our bows now. With land prepping including mineral sites, watering hole, filling the automatic feeder, small plot preparation/planting, and trail cameras there is no offseason for us either. Not to mention fishing and camping. Since Ohio bow season goes until February there is little time for an offseason. If I had to call it an offseason, February would be the slowest month for us.
I wish we had bobcats here i really wanna shoot one with a bow and get a awesome mount ive only seen them on trail cams on other states but i shot a real nice male red fox and a awesome female she was like mocha colored kinda she wasnt red more like blonde i would say ill dig thriugh my pics and post them. Yeah alot of places are seeing a decrease in yotes cause its becoming very popular to hunt them and its all year round fun. Plus with the decrease of deer and food there will be a decrease in yotes not being able to survive or feed all there young but in illinois yotes are bad i shot a doe this year wasnt sure about the shot backed out for 4 hours went back with a buddy by the time i got back she was half eatin her rear end and all the guts were draged outta her and they started from the back ate her legs up and back it was horrible i was so mad.
