Does an inch longer arrow matter?

I just realized that the arrows I have put aside for hunting only are an inch longer than what their suppose to be. What difference will that make? They should be 28.5" long and these carbon express maxima hunters were cut at 29.5".

So far this Prostaff guy from my local big name sports shop has screwed up EVERY thing he's done for me up to date:-(

Don't know if they can be recut or if it even matters.

An inch longer will weaken the spine a bit, depending on where you are with the shorter arrows would determine if that is a bad thing or not. If your spine was stiff to begin with then its good, however if it was spot on or weak then you could run into issues with them. Personally I want all my arrows as close to carbon copies of each other as possible. So I would take an inch off the back end of the arrow and refletch.

It does matter, and since those are weight.forward arrows, I would make him cut them of from the front .... you should be ok ... should be ... cut one and see

    Thanks.

I think I will. These arrows are nice and perfectly straight.

PT, Kodiak posted a video of a guy that debunks the weight forward claim. I personally never put much thought in it anyway Also cutting off the back, even if true, would give him a higher FOC. It would also be easier than attempting to remove the insert. Just my .02

Thats's a good point .. I really dont know if you can cut off the back of thoise arrows and have the nocs fit ... I know there is at least (or was) one brand that cutting off the back would kill the arrow as it tapered in the back .....

besides, what the heck does Rob know! :D

I've yet to sit down and take the time to understand the dynamic of these arrows.
I look forward to doing it just right now I'm still focusing on hitting the target.

Have you shot the new 29.5 inch arrows? If so, how did they fly?

Phillip beat me to the point about Maxima Hunters being "weight forward"... it's bunk, marketing hype, plain outright lies -- whichever term you prefer. ;)

Check to see what spine your bow needs, shoot the arrows first and tune the arrow to the bow... but feel free to cut those arrows from whichever end you want.

Yeah, but she still married you :busted: ....give them a few shots through your bow. If they fly as well as the 28.5s, you're alright. If not, give that "Pro Shop" guy some hell and have them shortened. Personally though, like Philip, I want my arrows to match completely... could be a mental thing, but that's how I like it! :fro:

Actually I have shot them and didn't even realize they were longer. But then I'm not the quickest of cats at the best of times:)
I need to get to someone and have them check my bow with my draw length again.

    I believe it's 29.5 at 70# on a Monster with a 6" brace height.
When a Mathews dealer set me up they said the arrows should be 28.5"

If they fly fine with broadheads, then there's no need to cut them.

Personally, I like longer shafts over shorter ones.
