I have 'never' had success using a doe bleat. I would think while putting out a doe scent, followed by a doe bleat while in the stand, would bring them in. But, no. Has not worked for me. Earlier this season I started a very quick doe bleat. I heard that that is a communicative bleat. Now that the rut is in full swing, I am using a long bleat. I have been using a young buck grunt as well. Just last night, I started using the deepest grunt. BTW, I am using a True Talker. I remember the last year I bow hunted, back in '03, I grunted to bucks in from over a hundred yards. That was in Michigan. So far, I have had no success in 'calling'. Any suggestions?
Justin, most of my calling is yes, 'blind calling'. I know that is not usually preferred, but just trying everything and anything I can to bag one. Running out of time.
THey work had 3 bucks run on top of me to the point were i oculdnt pull back because they were so close. have to do it on the ground though.
I was sitting on the ground tonight and heard something crashing around in the woods. I bleated and a huge 8 point stepped out 10 yards from me. Unfortunately it was too dark and he was too close to draw my bow. But it showed that the doe bleat can definitely be effective during this time of year.
