It has rained all day here... a fellow co-worker called me about 1pm and said he was going to try to go this evening and invited me along to hunt FLoyd County...(Big deer county here in VA), I said sure, maybe it will let up by this evening... we were going to hunt a field edge and wouldn't really need to be there until 5pm or so.. very low impact entrance... So we meet up and hit the road, misting rain here and there nothing bad at all, the evening looked great... Got set up and waited for the deer to arrive, with nice lightly saturating passing showers, about 6pm two deer come out into the field about 150yds away... While waiting these deer out, I keep an eye on the woods behind me No rain at this point... in between showers I guess, and sure enough I have two deer at 20 and closing... I pick out the lead doe... and let it fly, 10yds, at about a 45 degree angle, I let it fly, deer took two jumps, stopped looked around, then tried to bolt, but fell over in the process... I'm telling you guys, the more I use these Strikers, the more I love them... this deer never even knew it had been hit and died less than 10seconds after the shot... They are so scary sharp, I doubt I'll ever go back to an expandable, or any other head as long as the Strikers are around. Any-who... about 20 min after this all took place the biggest monsoon of a thundershower came blowing in right into my face, by the time I got back to the truck I bet I weighed 300lbs In wet clothes... nothing on my was dry, I would have been better off to have jumped into a pond... None the less... a successful night, and Doe #2 is hanging in the Barn.
Nice job! I'm fairly new to bow hunting, would you mind telling me what is the contraption on your bow with what I am assuming is yardage numbers? That adjustable dial looking thing?
Most people use Multi-pin sights... 20-30-40 etc... Different pin for different yardages... I use a Single Pin Slider, which is just as you described, 1 pin that is adjustable to whatever yardage your shooting... A little more work involved before the shot sometimes... but I like it real well, I find I'm much more accurate with 1 single pin than multiple pins. This particular one is a Copper John Mark IV http://copperjohn.com/index.php/home/products/14
j/c....have u tried the striker magnums yet? i'm contemplating about getting them....i'm thinking about matching them up to my piledriver 350 shafts....
Congrats again! I was just in Floyd County this past weekend. It was my F-in-law's Bday and he wanted to go to Chateau Morrisette for brunch and some wine. We saw TONS of deer on the parkway.
